Card Games I Love
The weather was sort of icky all weekend long, so we spent our holiday inside playing card games as a family. I love board games and card games. One of the only things about my kids growing up so fast that I like is that they like to play card games with me. Other than that I wish they were still little.
We played two new games this weekend. Not really new, they have been out for a while, but new to us:
It is a little harder to find than the other two, but totally worth it! This game is less strategy and more speed and competition. I love it.
So what did you do with your day off?

Santa brought SORRY Revenge and I picked up Monopoly Deal when I ran to the store yesterday to pick up lunch. I have to say that I think both of them are more fun than the board games. And they take a LOT less time! Especially Monopoly. The board game seems to go on forever and is way to long to keep my kiddos interested, but we had no problem playing a hand of Monopoly Deal even after three games of SORRY! Revenge.
Monopoly is pretty much a card version of Monopoly, but SORRY! Revenge is like a game of sorry mixed with a game of 21. It also has a little bit of hidden learning for your younger kids. My first grader got some good addition practice in today.
What we didn't play was my all time favorite card game, Wackee Six :

Christmas Letter Ornament
I saw this cute ornament over at Tracy's Trinkets:
And I love the tradition that goes along with it. When you open the box there is a letter inside. She writes one for her son every year. How fun would it be do do this and then hid it somewhere on the tree Christmas morning. After all the presents are opened they would have to go and find their box and read the letter from Mom and Dad!

Garden Flag
I am the garden mom for my daughter'c classroom. We have done some weeding and planting and things are really starting to look beautiful. The only thing that is missing is a sign identifying their garden. I have been thinking about painting a cute rock, but I really like this idea from Random Thought of a Supermom:
Anyone have any other suggestions? I thought a chalkboard painted rock would be fun, but I am pretty sure the rain would ruin that idea, but maybe not!
And then of course I find this:
And a banner seems like so much more fun than a flag! I could use the same ribbon letter idea from Supermom, but spell out the teacher's entire name!
Of I could stick with a rock.

Pumpkin Prints
I can't get this poster from Whole Foods out of my head:
I have even infected other people (*cough*Katie*cough* with the disease). So I am trying to find a way to create something similar in case it doesn't work out,
I saw this pretty picture from Fern Creek Cottage:
Which reminded me of this Graphic Fairy Print:
And I might have to spend a little time searching for some pumpkin images that I can try to turn into illustrations with photoshop so that I can make a poster of my own.
I am really hoping that Whole Foods just lets me have the poster.

Halloween at Whole Foods
Whole Foods is based out of Austin, so there is a HUGE store downtown that we stopped at for dinner last night. After we ate we wandered through the store admiring all of the fun things they have for Halloween. My favorite finds were in the floral department:
Not a great picture (store lighting + iPhone + daughter leaning on you = this is as good as it is going to get) but these were mini pumpkins on a vine. That is what they called them at least. Not sure what they really were.
These are Chinese lanterns and they are the perfect shade of orange for a Halloween centerpiece:
I could have stayed in the floral department all day:
But we headed over to the bakery, so it wasn't too painful:
They used a large sliver of chocolate as a tombstone. Perfect and delicious. Plus I love the simple orange frosting pumpkin on the cupcake to the left. And then of course there is the dead tree made from chocolate as well:
And it took every ounce of self control I had not to go back to the front desk and beg for this:
It is made completely out of paper and is so amazing. If you have a Whole Foods, you should go check out all of the fun stuff they have on display for Halloween. If you don't have one you should come visit mine!
