Autumn Snack Mix [Fun Fall Treat]

I had forgotten all about this fun Fall treat until one sister-in-law asked another sister-in-law for the recipe via a group text.  This recipe might be the best thing to ever come out of a group text message!

Erin, the sister-in-law responsible for introducing us to this yummy goodness calls it Autumn Corn Munch. It doesn't matter what you call it though , as long as you make it.  Immediately! You will LOVE IT! It is Crunchy Autumnal Goodness.

Snowy Trail Mix

I saw this yummy snowy trail mix that Tiffany Ruda made using this recipe from Family Fun:

And it reminded me of a snack mix that my mother in law makes.  Except our recipe has caramels.  And her recipehas a much nicer name.  I might have to make some for neighbors now and refer to it as snowy trail mix.

Valentine Snack Mix

My mother-in-law makes a snack mix that has no name. I call it crack because once you start eating it you are SERIOUSLY addicted. I know that some people might find the name offensive, so we will pretend like I don't call it that. For the sake of this post, we are going to call it Valentine Snack Mix.

I don't have a picture of this magical mix because, well, it usually doesn't last long enough to get the camera out. It is THAT good! But it sort of looks like this:

But better. A lot better.

And it is white, so it makes a good treat for Valentine's Day. And if white isn't good enough, then when you are done you can take some pink or red (or both) candy melts and drizzle them over the top.

What you need:

2 cups Chex cereal (I use wheat)
2 cups pretzels (the little twists)
1 cup nuts of your choice (whatever is your favorite. I like pecans. My MIL uses peanuts and cashews)
1 pkg slivered almonds
35 caramels cut into quarters (this part takes forever...but you have to do it!! It makes the mix! And you can't just throw them in without cutting them because 1/4 of a caramel is the PERFECT SIZE)
1 pkg white chocolate chips

What you do:

Toast the nuts (you can toast the pretzels and cereal too...or not) Mix everything except the the white chocolate chips. Melt those and then pour them over the mix. Stir it all together. Spread it out on parchment and let it cool. Then break it up and try not to eat it all!
