Hardware Store Easter Basket
This cute basket from Jamie at Something To Do makes me wish I hadn't already forked out dough for the traditional (boring) Easter baskets:
A hardware store basket (that will actually be useful after Sunday) and some cute ribbon. And I think The Boy would like this one a lot more than the one he is getting.

LIttle Chick Easter Eggs
These cute eggs from Just Jenn Rants and Raves are way too cute not to duplicate:
I am thinking I might try to do this to my deviled eggs for Easter.

Magic Jellybeans
This is one of my favorite ideas from See Jane Blog EVER! Each year she gives her kids this:
And they plant them in the ground. And when they wake up, they get this:
But this year, there is snow on the ground. And when they tried to plant the jellybeans in the snow, no lollipop grew. To see what grew in it's place, you will have to go HERE.

Toffee Nest Cupcakes
I wish I was brave enough to play with melted sugar. With three little ones running around, I am just too scared to have the stuff around the house. Culinary napalm as my buddy Alton Brown calls it. But if I was brave enough (or if I could talk the hubby into taking the kids out of the house for the afternoon) I might have to try this:
Torie Jayne made them with the back of a muffin tin:
You can see her tutorial and get the recipe for these toffee nests and the toffee apple cupcakes that go with them HERE.

Bunny Cookie Cake
Found this cute cake from Country Living, decorated with bunny cookies, on Creative Hostess:
Cookie decorating is on the agenda for Friday, so we might have to throw in some cake baking and call Easter dessert complete!
And if none of the decorated cookies come out cute enough (or if we eat them all), we can just use this cake from Food Network for inspiration:

Message in an Egg
Poppytalk has a tutorial to make these fortune cookie inspired eggs:
And I have a dozen hollowed out egg shells down stairs as we speak waiting for me to color them and tuck little notes inside. I am so excited!
If you are interested in making some, I used a finishing nail and mallet to poke a small hole in the top end and a larger hole in the bottom. Make sure to break away the shell and the skin from the inside of the shell. Then just blow into the smaller hole and the egg white should come out easily and the yolk will soon follow.
Rinse them with water and let them dry
Tip: Use older eggs. As eggs age, the membrane around the yolk (the vitelline) weakens and will break more easily (which in this case is good...when separating eggs you want fresher eggs so that the membrane around the yolk is stronger)
**I just saw that Eddie Ross suggests using a skewer to break the yolk. I wish I would have read that a dozen eggs ago!**

Cupcake Topper
The Decorated Cookie has a tutorial to make these cute fondant bunnies:
I love that she put them on a cookie! The perfect patch of dirt. And you can move the whole thing to the top of a cupcake, which would make a perfect party treat.
You can check out the bunny how to HERE.

Southern Living Table
If Martha is coming to make me dinner, maybe Southern Living will set the table!
With their gorgeous floral centerpieces:
Their fun little nests made from Spanish Moss:
Their decorated chairs:
and their pastel buckets full of treats:
A girl can dream, right?

Mosaic Eggs
If you still haven't decorated your eggs (**cough*cough*me*cough*cough*) here is a cute idea that I found on Gingerbread Snowflakes:
They made mosaics from cracked egg shells. Pretty clever. You can read more about it HERE.

Easter Dinner
Easter is the first major holiday that I will be away from family. Valentine's Day was a big one for us, but most of that is centered around baked goods and store bought treats. Easter is the real deal. So while I try to figure out how to cook a Ham for three people (because the girls never end up eating meat) I am going to dream of what I wish Martha would make for me for Easter dinner:
Ham with Apricot Glaze:
Asparagus Gruyere Tart:
Twice Baked Potatoes:
and Vanilla Custard:
Martha, just email me and I will give you my address. Thank you.

Fabric Eggs
These aren't only cute, but would be fun to hunt if you have really little ones:
Melanie at The Crafty Cupboard made these with a free pattern she got from Retro Mama. I posted about her cute, bright cloth eggs last year:

Check out Melanie's eggs HERE and get the free pattern HERE.

Egg Crate
Jen from Lipstick and Laundry built and painted these gorgeous egg crates:
They are way too cute to use just for Easter. Those could stay out all Spring long.
