Lace Votives

I saw another crafty idea that uses lace over on Bliss Bloom Blog.  This time with a balloon and some fabric stiffener you can turn a piece of lace into a votive:

I think Martha used regular candles, but part of me feels like fire, fabric, and fabric stiffener might not be the best combination.  I might go with an LED candle light.

You can see the tutorial over on Martha Stewart.

Heart Garland Candle

Carolyn decorated a candle with a cute miniature heart garland:

She made the hearts on the garland with vellum, but you could use  wax paper if you already have that on hand.  And even if you don't want to wrap it around a candle, it would be cute to hang a miniature heart garland around the house.

You can read Carolyn's tutorial for this Valentine's Day candle over on Carolyn's Homework.

Candle Light Valentine's Day Dinner

I think this idea that I saw over at While He Was Napping is so beautiful and romantic:

but I am pretty sure that we would start a really big fire if we attempted this in our house.  I think I might stick to the floral heart version instead, if I can ever collect enough egg cups:

Candle Apples

Pumpkins have always made cute candle holders:

But I had never thought of using apples as candle holders:

Still very fall, but a different, less expensive look.  Unless you find really cheap pumpkins or really expensive apples.

I found this beautiful Matthew Mead image over at Party Frosting.

Silhouette Candle

Closet Crafter made this cute candle using a napkin and wax paper:

I am now on the lookout for a similar Christmas silhouette napkin so that I can make some of these for my Christmas mantle.

You can see her tutorial HERE and if you know of any cute Christmas silhouette napkins let me know!!

Gilded Halloween Candles

Kelly Wilkinson from Make Grow Gather shared a tutorial for these candle holders on The Washington Post:

Black silhouettes and gold leaf gives these candles the perfect gilded look.  Projects like these make me wish I could start over on all of my Halloween decor and choose a more gothic style.  Of course, I only feel that way until I see the next idea that I love!  Plus, with crafty ideas like this you can always just try to transform some of the pieces that you already have.  Change it up a little bit every year.

If you want to add these gilded candles to your collection, you can see her tutorial HERE.

Mason Jar Candle Chandelier

As if I don't already have enough reason to be stock piling mason jars:

I am so glad that City Cradle posted this image from Beth Helmstetter because I missed it when I read her post about this gorgeous wedding.

Is it odd that more than half of the ideas I love for decorating come from weddings?  And I am not talking about party decor, I am talking things I want to use in my home for everyday decor.

What is the most gorgeous thing you have seen at a wedding reception?

Easter Egg Votives

Martha can even find a use for egg shells! And this is another reason to have egg cups! (Reason number one being this post where they used them as flower vases.)

You poke a hole in the top of the egg with a needle, then break away the top of the shell and empty out the egg. (Use it for breakfast!!) Then you dye them the same way you would die Easter Eggs, put them back in the carton, place a 4 inch wire core wick inside and fill with wax.

Use the egg cup as a votive and you have a really cute decoration for Easter.
