How To Make a Headboard from Doors from I Am Momma Hear Me Roar

Mismatched Table Linens

I haven't oogled over anything mismatched in a while, so I thought I would share this one from 100 Layer Cake:
Mismatched cloth napkins in autumn colors would be so pretty for Thanksgiving!!  (Which is only 78 days away!!)  Or reds and greens for Christmas!  (Only 107 days!!)

I might need to turn comments off on this post so I don't get mean comments for either a) talking about Christmas already or b) making you realize how close it is!   But I won't.  I can take it!

Pendant Lamp Lights

Remember the Wall of Shutters:

The same woman behind that beautiful wall, Laura Durrer from Olive and Love,  has posted a tutorial on how to take a regular lamp and convert it to a hanging pendant:

After coming up with the idea, she went online looking for inspiration and found it in this picture from the SBar found on InStyle:

That picture of course has me dreaming of mismatched lamp pendants.  All the same color, but different styles.  *sigh*

You can check out the tutorial on how to convert a regular lamp to a gorgeous pendant light HERE and if you want to see some more of her lighting inspiration, you can check that out HERE.

Rainbow Mismatched Chairs

More mismatched chairs from BHG:

I don't think it is normal how happy this picture makes me.  I seriously just need to give up trying to be reasonable and paint some chairs bright happy colors.

Fun Flower Centerpieces

Rachel Ray Magazine has some fun ideas for floral centerpieces:

I love the different stemware they used for candleholders.  I actually just love the different stemware.  Again with the mismatched!  And this way it can multitask.  Centerpiece or drink-ware depending on the occasion!

There is also a great idea using ice blocks:

but I don't think this one would fly in Texas in the summer.  But this one would still work:

And it might actually prolong their life in the heat!

You can check out more ideas for easy flower centerpieces HERE.

Mismatched Outdoors

Back on the topic of mismatched chairs for a minute...I am afraid I need these in the worst way:

Word on Design Sponge is that these chairs (from Emma Balch) will be sold at Anthropologie.  Sadly, only at their Kings Road, London shop.  So I will have to pine from a distance.  Or I will have to find some gorgeous iron chairs and spray paint them.

Mismatched Dinning Room Chairs

Pink and Polka Dot posted this picture of her dining room chairs:

It was meant as a before and after to show what she did to the chairs...but I LOVE the mismatched fabric.  Or I should say I love the IDEA of the mismatched fabric.

I really want mismatched chairs.  Different chairs... all the same color:

Or the same chair in different colors:

It really doesn't matter.  I love them all!  Buy my husband thinks it is a little weird.  Which is why it will be happening at the kitchen table instead of the dining room.  But maybe I could sneak it into the dining room too if it was just the fabric on the chairs.  Not so noticeable, but still enough to make me happy.

Of course, our current chairs aren't upholstered.  Hmmmm...

Does mismatched tickle your fancy?  Or are you on the same side of the fence as my Hubby?

White Pitchers

Layla from The Lettered Cottage posted this beautiful picture of her mantle:

I always keep my eyes open for white pitchers when I am out shopping.  I would love to have a collection like this someday:

Okay, maybe not quite like that...but a little.  And although they won't be food safe, you can get a head start on your collection using the same trick that Layla used.  She took mismatched pitchers and spray painted them white.  Again, you can spray paint just about anything.

You can check out the rest of the details on her mantle HERE.

Mismatched Chairs

Now that we have a new table and matching chairs for the 'formal' dining room, I am on the lookout for mismatched chairs for the kitchen dining area (like the ones in this post).

And when I see pictures like this I don't know if I can be patient:

Bench Shelves

Martha calls this Benches in a Stack:

because she stacked benches, screwed them together, and made the cutest shelf! Well, lets be honest. She didn't do any of that. But someone that works for her did. And to them I say I LOVE YOUR BENCHES IN A STACK!

Not to find three identical benches that don't cost a fortune...I wonder what it would look like with mismatched benches. Because you know how I feel about mismatched!

Pretty Paper Plates

I love this idea from Country Living:

Love the plates. Love the charger look. I love the polka dots and flowers. I love the coordinating/mismatched napkins. I love that they are paper. Because honestly, how wants to wash dishes after a party! And with paper this cute, who needs real dishes!

Mismatched Bedding

I am supposed to be looking for bedding for my room. A nearly impossible task because I have NO IDEA what I want!

But I am trying with all my might to not buy this bedding for the girls:

Little Miss Matched now sells bedding. This bedding does not go with their room at all! Not even a little. Not the paint or the furniture. Nothing. But dang I want it!

Coasters

My friend lbug emailed me a link to these:

DIY Maven used ceramic tiles and napkins with a little decoupage to create these cute coasters. I was going to blog about them, but completely forgot! And then I saw this on Kari's blog:

It is from the same tutorial! But seeing them together made me think of these:

And now my love for the mismatched is going to have me searching for cute napkins to make coasters with!

Melamine Cups

Are you sick of the mismatched ideas yet?

When I posted about the dinning room chairs, Myrnie commented that instead of different chairs of the same color, she had the same chair, but different colors. Sort of like these cups from My Poppet:

And now I don't know which I love more. I think the same color is a little more sophisticated. If that is even the right word. But I am sort of in love with the whole bright color rainbow theme!

I Scream...You Scream...

We all scream for Ice Cream...or cake...or cupcakes:

BHG cut a square cake into two triangles to make this super cute ice cream cone cake. This is making me fall in love with cupcakes all over again. And did you notice that the cupcakes are mismatched!

Mismatched

So, I already told you about the mismatched chairs that I am in love with.

Well I am in love with these mismatched glasses too:

Well, not actually THOSE mismatched glasses. They tried to "tie them all together" by dying the bases and etching a line in all of them. I think I would like them more in their original mismatched state. But I do love all things mismatched.

I think I am going to start collecting mismatched ice cream dishes:

and white serving dishes:

and regular dishes:

Okay, those are sort of matchey mismatch, but they are CUTE!! They are by Rosanna.

Everything about mismatched is great! You don't have to worry about breaking one, because you don't have to find a match to replace it. You can buy them one at a time so that you don't spend a lot of money all at once. And did I mention it is cute!

It is probably cuter when you only have ONE thing that is mismatched. If everything you own was mismatched then it would just look crazy. But it is going to be so hard to choose.

No matter what I think I might have to get a pair of these flip flops from Little Miss Matched:

Do you own anything mismatched? What is it?

Dining Room Chairs

Remember how I said I keep finding new ideas that remind me of old ideas...

Well every time I post one of these ideas I have people comment that they missed it the first time around. Either because they are new to my blog or because I post a gazillion things a day and they miss it. What? Me post too much? Never!!

So I think I am going to stick with my recycling old ideas into new posts theme for a while.

I found these chairs on Cookiemag.com:

They are orange. Kind of fun, but definitely not my style. And I am pretty sure my hubby wouldn't love them in the dinning room.

But it did remind me of these chairs:

These chairs that I do love. These chairs that I loved so much that that I woke up the first Saturday after I saw this picture and went out garage sale hopping looking only for chairs. I only found one, but it was a great find. It was $5 and it was PERFECT! The family owned a little boutique that they were closing and were selling what was left of their items. I immediately bought it and loaded it in my car.

I couple of days later I replaced the HUGE rolling, spinning, takes up too much room computer chair with my new pretty garage sale find.

Maybe one day I will find seven other chairs that I love and have a mismatched dinning room table set.

More Headboards

After wasting two hours online looking at master bedrooms the only think I found that I liked was this tutorial from BHG on how to make this headboard:

using two doors and some trim:

But the chances of me finding two identical used doors is pretty unlikely, and a new door would cost me $100 each...so that probably isn't going to happen. Not to mention that there is a vent under my bed (intake for the AC) so I couldn't use the idea unless I moved the bed to a different wall...which I don't think is going to happen.

At least I like the mismatched nightstands.

I think I am going to narrow down my master bedroom searching to just new bedding for now. Hopefully I will find something that I will fall in love with!
