Hotel Holiday Decorations
Last night we stayed in a hotel on the way home for Christmas. Although I wasn't impressed by the accommodations, I did love the holiday decorations in the lobby. That has to count for something, right? So before I left I snapped some pictures with my iPhone. I am pretty sure I looked like a crazy lady, but I wanted to share them with you!
I love the ornaments in bowls that they had on the coffee tables:
I love the ornaments in bowls that they had on the coffee tables:
Simple and easy, but a really pretty touch and a great splash of color. They also had a Christmas tree topiary covered in red rose petals:
It was even prettier by candle light at night.
In my book you can never go wrong with apothecary jars:
And I have no idea where they got this ornament hanger from, but it reminds me of the old window ornament display. I love them both!

Christmas Specimen Art
I still love specimen art, and winter and Christmas versions are even more fun!
Racks and Mooby:
The Pike Family:
and Tatertots & Jello:
I think Christmas lights would be fun. Or ornament. Or just about anything! Always so many fun ideas for specimen style art pieces!

Pipe Candy Canes
Driving down the road yesterday we found a street that was completely lined with giant candy canes:
Upon closer inspection we realized that they were made out of pvc pipe:
I so want to live on a street with a person that makes giant PVC candy canes for everyone's yard!

Clay Pot Soldier
Jamie from C.R.A.F.T. posted about these soldiers she made with her mom a couple of years ago using clay pots:
At first I didn't realize how big they were, but then I saw this picture:
They would be cute using smaller post too, but these guys are amazing! Who wouldn't want these cute toy soldiers keeping watch at their front door!

Hanging Your Stockings Without a Mantel
This is actually the first year in a long time that we have had a fireplace. I am still trying to figure out how to hang the stockings from it since none of the stocking holders that I have been hoping for years to use will sit on the edge of the silly rounded mantel.
So I have been browsing for other stocking options. Here are some for those of you that don't have a mantel of your own or are just looking for something new.
The Nest has one of the most traditional ideas, your banister:
If you don't have stairs than Country Living has some great ideas that include a dresser, your bed, and the piano:
Hanging them in the windows is a fun idea from Apartment Therapy:
And Restyled Home has hers hung from her wainscoting:
So where do you hang your stockings? Even though we have a mantel, I might just go for the piano this year.

Noel Decorations
On Friday I showed you this beauty from The Stories of A to Z:
It was actually a knock off of a Pottery Barn sign that has become very popular:
Which ironically is a knock off of the Love Statue by Robert Indiana:
I then stumbled across another beautiful display inspired by the same PB item, this time from the Thrift Decor Chick:
And although this one wasn't inspired by Pottery Barn, I wanted to share this version from Ms. Smartypants with you too:

Pretty Peppermint Projects
Red and white are my two favorite colors, but oddly enough I don't have a lot of peppermint themed Christmas decorations. I might have to change that. Here are some fun projects with the pretty red and white peppermint theme.
Such a cute peppermint Pillow from Char at Crap I've Made:
This felt peppermint twist garland from the Purl Bee that I want for my tree:
Peppermint sugar cookies from Bake at 350:
A Peppermint Purse from Deeply Fabulous:
A great peppermint wreath from Fudge Ripple:
and my girls need some peppermint clippies like these ones from MSSJCreations:
And if you are looking for treats using peppermint candies you can check those out HERE.
Is there anything else perfectly peppermint that I have missed?

Ornament Place Cards
Pizzazzerie has a tutorial from JC Lofts on their blog showing you how to make these cute ornament place cards using dollar store ornaments and hooks:
That beauty cost 12 cents! Head over and check out how it is made and while you are there check out the wrapped presents decorating the walls:
I love that you can use some wrapping paper and ribbon to wrap the pictures you already have hanging on your wall! Such a great way to transform your home in a really inexpensive way!

Candy Cane Kitchen Sign
I would run out and buy this cute Candy Cane Kitchen sign:
but I can't. Flamingo Toes painted it herself! And she shares a step by step tutorial of how you can make your own HERE.
And another fun idea for your kitchen, Dittle Dattle dressed up her mixer for the holidays as well:
She made Christmas subway art vinyl to use for the holidays. Pretty perfect since it probably gets more use this time of year than any other!
