Banana Split Bites

These cute little treats are from Baker's Royale:

They are banana split bites that would be pretty cute on just about any dessert table at any party.  They are even easily dressed up for Halloween.  Did you know you can buy orange maraschino cherries?  One of my favorite restaurants in AZ uses all sorts of colorful cherries.  They are actually different flavors.

But even without the orange cherries you could use some black and orange non perils that are super easy to find in the stores this time of year and it would be perfect.

You can see how to make these treats HERE and if you love the mini bite sized treat idea, Frost Me is featuring a bunch of them on her blog HERE.

PS - If you are wondering why these are called banana split bites when there isn't any ice cream, you need to go check them out, because there is ice cream tucked inside each one!

Mini Ice Cream Sandwiches

Another cute one from Random Thoughts of a Supermom:

You can read about her cute little ice cream sandwiches that she made with some wafers, Blue Bell, and nonpareils HERE.

And since they sell nonpareils in a patriotic red white and blue mix, you can use this idea for the 4th too!

And since I have featured two of her ideas already today, you need to go and check out her entire blog!  Lots of fun summer treats!

And since she used Blue Bell ice cream to make these, I thought I would ask if you have Blue Bell where you live?  They only sell it in 17 states, but they are the third best selling ice cream in the country.  They make some GOOD stuff.  Banana Pudding Ice Cream (which has vanilla wafers IN it) is my favorite.  We just drove through the home of Blue Bell Ice Cream (Brenham) on the way home from our vacation.  Can you tell?

Fairy Bread

In Australia, if you take bread and butter and sprinkle it with 100's and 1000's (kinda like nonpareils or sprinkles here in the US) you get fairy bread:

I guess it is a huge hit at kids parties down under and I think it is a pretty inexpensive treat to try out at your next fairy party.

You can read more about it at I Ate Brisbane.  And thanks to Craft for finding it for us!

Valentine Votives

I don't like nonpareils on my baked goods. Don't want them on my cupcakes or cakes or cookies or brownies. I don't like the texture. But I LOVE the way they look, which would explain why I have them in EVERY color and combination possible.

Now I have a use for them:

Go Bananas

Frozen bananas, chocolate, and colorful nonperils. A fun treat for a summer party and a new blog, Imprintables, that I am in love with!

I apologize for talking about Summer when I know some of you haven't had the chance to even see Spring yet! But I love Summer!

Cut the bananas and insert a popsicle stick. Dip the ends into sprinkles (or chocolate and then sprinkles...or nuts...or whatever you want!!). Place them on a cookie sheet that is covered in plastic wrap, and then cover the bananas in plastic wrap and freeze.

Cookie Swap: Phefferneuse Snowmen

I have never had Phefferneuse, but it doesn't matter if it is disgusting. This snowman idea from Matthew Mead is too cute to pass up!

First the cookie recipe (that did not come from Mathew)

What you need:
3 cups all purpose white flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
pinch salt
pinch white pepper (this may sound odd, but please don't leave it out)
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
pinch ground cardamom
1/2 cup chopped candied lemon peel (optional but very nice)
1/2 sliced almonds (or almond flour is easier if you can get it)
3 large eggs
1 cup powdered sugar
1 apple slice (not in the recipe, but used later)
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter (softened)

What you do:

Grind the almonds to a powder (coffee grinder or blender work).

In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, spices, baking powder, and salt.

In a mixing bowl beat the butter and the granulated sugar. Add eggs, lemon peel, and almond powder and blend. Gradually add flour and incorporate. Refrigerate for one hour or more. Dough may be dry and even a little crumbly.

Roll out dough onto floured surface to 1/4 inch thick. Cut out with round cookie cutters.

Bake for 15 minutes in a pre-heated 350 degree oven. Remove from cookie sheet and let cool completely on a wire rack. When cookies are completely cooled put them in a plastic ziplock with the powered sugar and shake to coat.

Now back to the snowmen! Draw snowman faces on them with food markers (they use food coloring) and then set them out on a plate of nonpareils.
