City Art Mural

My sister in law is having her first baby boy.  She is learning the sad truth that buying things for boys is not as fun as buying things for girls.  Especially, if like my sister in law, you aren't a fan of trucks, bears, or animals.

So I have been trying to find themes for a nursery that she might like and I stumbled across this mural from Our Heart Beat:

I think I am going to try to talk her into a city theme:

You can check out Annalea and Luca's tutorial HERE.

Button and Keychain Map of the World

Mary Janes and Galoshes attended the Junk Bonanza in MN and just posted about her trip.  She shared this image from XO Supplies:

Of course, she was selling the individual buttons and key chains, but now I want an entire map made out of them!  I wonder how much that would cost to make?

Map Prints

I have always wanted a study with a huge map covering one of the walls.  I have found a few ideas that I love, but I either haven't had the wall space or couldn't find a map that I wanted that wasn't a small fortune.

Costco recently had some semi large maps on sale for a super price, but upon opening them, they were a little wrinkly looking (hence the super cheap price).  The Boy has still really enjoyed it, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping it would be.

But now I am wondering if he will freak out if I cut it into pieces.  I found this image at Apartment Therapy:

and I love the idea of having his map be a collection of map prints.  A few pieces of MDF (that I already have cut to size if I could just remember what box they got packed away in) and some mod podge and I think I can take care of the wrinkly map problem.

Not sure how useful or educational the map will be at that point, but sometimes you have to sacrifice!

I *heart* Maps

The boy has a big love of maps. I can't tell you how many I have had to sneak out of his room, all torn and tattered) to throw away. He has maps of the US, the World, individual states, Disneyland, Legoland. If there is a map, he has it. Or at least wants it.

And because of his love of maps, I have a new fondness for them. But I don't think he is going to like this one:

But I do!! Of course, it is more of a print than a map. But I love it just the same. You can pick one up at Beauchamping.
