If I told you that Richella from
Imparting Grace was using this as an ottoman:
I am sure you would not be very impressed. Probably doesn't match the decor of your house, right? But wait until I show you what she did to it:
She covered a styrofoam cooler with foam and then upholstered it!! Added some inexpensive feet from Home Depot and voila!
I can honestly say I would have NEVER thought to do that!

OMG I have 2 of those that we never used when we went camping over the 4th of July.
I have foam and fabric, going to Goodwill this morning I'll have to look for feet.
I love your Blog!!
I love the idea -- but is a styrofoam bucket really sturdy enough? My ideal ottoman is tough enough to put drinks on, books on, prop your feet up on & even use as extra seating when need be.
Cute idea - just not very practical for me until I get a little more space for extra furniture!
Wow, that's brilliant! I wonder if there is a way to make it so it is still openable, so you could use the inside for storage, for like TV remotes and stuff...?
This is amazing- we really need an ottoman, and we could actually afford this, plus I could do any fabric I want!! Thank you, thank you, for the idea!!
but how do you keep it from SQUEAKING??? I hate that sound! LOL
Amy, she actually filled hers with old magazines before she covered it to give it some more weight.
As for the squeaking...you got me! ;D
mommaruth - I don't know if it is sturdy enough to sit on. I think her styrofoam cooler was a pretty thick one from Omaha Steaks (used for shipping meat) so it was a lot sturdier. But you could probably do the same thing by making a cube out of MDF and covering it with foam. It would work the same!!
That is truly something from nothing. One very smart and inventive girl. Women can get what they want when they want it...and at a good price.
