Healthy Halloween Snacks
Halloween is full of sugar, so it is always nice to have some festive snacks that are a little healthier than a cupcake on hand.
Kellie from Little Nummies posted some fun cracker eyeballs over at Snack Picks. My favorite are the banana and peanut butter version:
Food Junction has a lot of fun ideas, my favorite being the olive and gooseberry skewers:
Fruit salad jack-o-lanterns from Family Fun are a great pre trick or treat snack or a fun addition to the dinner table:
Banana Ghosts rolled in coconut from junimond:
These meaty fingers from Super Healthy Kids are made from pretzels, ham and an almond, but I am going to replace the pretzel with a cheese stick and serve these for lunch on Halloween:
Do you have any healthy snacks or appetizers that you plan on serving on Halloween?

Frankenstein Punch
Ruby's preschool teacher had a little Halloween party this week. They all wore their costumes and had some fun Halloween snacks. My favorite treat was the Frankenstein Punch:
She made green sherbert punch and poured it into these cute cups The Rolos were glued onto the cup and the face was drawn with a Sharpie. Easy and inexpensive! It is too bad that the kid had no idea who Frankenstein was! They still thought it was a cute monster and all of the moms appreciated them! Plus the kids appreciated the candy!

Little Nummie Witch Hats
So Little Nummies is a great site with a lot of fun snacks for little (and big) kids. And she also has some really fun Halloween projects! (The big egg eyeballs...those were her!) Yesterday she posted these fun witch hat treats:
They are my FAVORITE cookies (chocolate stripped shortbread) with a chocolate dipped Bugle on top. I now MUST know what a chocolate dipped Bugle tastes like.

Check out all of her fun Halloween Nummies here.

Snowflake Pretzels
Mom Endeavors made the cutest snowflake treats from pretzel sticks and white almond bark:
She patterned them after the spider web snacks that she made for Halloween:
I will be adding both to the list of treats I make next year!

Fall Brownies
Another fun Fall recipe from Country Living:

Cheesecake brownies cut out with some fall themed cookie cutters. I love how easy it is to turn every day snacks into a holiday snack with cookie cutters. I think cookie cutters are my favorite kitchen gadget ever!!
Here the recipe for the yummy brownies:
(makes 3 dozen)
What you need:1 ½ cups butter (3 sticks)
¾ pound bittersweet chocolate, chopped
8 large eggs
1 ½ cups dark brown sugar
2 cups granulated sugar
4 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 ½ teaspoons salt
2 ¼ cups flour
¾ cup cocoa
1 pound cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup apricot jam
1 cup pumpkin butter (YUM! But can be substituted with apple butter, raspberry jam or peanut butter)What you do:
Heat oven to 325 degrees F. Line a baking pan with parchment paper and lightly butter.Melt butter and chocolate.Whisk 6 eggs, brown sugar, and 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar together. Stir in 3 teaspoons vanilla, salt, melted chocolate, flour, and cocoa. Pour into prepared pan.Beat cream cheese using a mixer on medium speed until fluffy. Add remaining 2 eggs, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and cornstarch; beat until smooth and spread over chocolate batter.Combine jam and pumpkin butter. Drop in spoonfuls onto cream cheese and draw swirls using a knife. Bake until center tests clean, about 40 minutes. Cool and punch out shapes using Halloween-themed cutters.
