Paper Acorn

Ruby calls acorns "corns".  It is super cute and it might have something to do with my obsession with them this year.  She will look over my shoulder when I am reading blogs and say, "Mommy, look!  A corn!"

I might have to make this cute framed paper acorn project from Lemon Squeezy Home just so I can listen to her call it a "corn" all day long:

Acorn Treats

Before I moved to Texas I had never seen a real acorn that had fallen out of an actual tree.  At least one that wasn't sold in a craft store.  Now that we have a yard full of them I love them even more.  My mom must feel the same way, because she collected a bag full of them and took them back to Arizona with her.

Unless you are a squirrel, acorns are pretty much just decorative.  But acorn themed snacks on the other hand are not only cute, but edible!  

Family Fun not only made super cute leaf shaped napkins for fall, they transformed doughnut holes into perfectly cute acorns:

Lipstick and Laundry made these cute acorns with frosting, mini Vanilla wafers, and good old hershey kisses:

Little Nummies made an entire acorn sandwich.  I love the cereal top, but you could use sliced almonds too or raisins for the hat too:

Beth from The Stories of A to Z made peanut butter chocolate acorns and even has a tip for turning non-perils black if you aren't a sprinkle junkie like me.  (I have non perils in just about every color).

Fabric Acorns

I have always thought crafts using acorn caps were cute, but now that I have a yard that will eventually be full of them I am even more excited to find cute ideas like this:

Fuzzy Pom Pom Garlands

I guess there is a little nifty tool you can by that will make pom poms out of yarn.  I found out about it when I saw this DIY Pom Pom post on Poppytalk:

I love pom pom garlands.  Mostly because they are round and colorful, two of my favorite things.  This one is a little less work than making all of your pom poms yourself:

And if you want to put a fall spin on it, you could borrow this idea from Pink and Green Mama:

She glued acorn tops onto the pom poms and they used them for a craft project, but I say use the fall colored pom poms,  string them up and make a garland out of it!

Pink Acorn Wreath

I am still debating over what I want to hang on my door for Valentine's Day and I found this cute pink (raspberry) wreath from Dana at Made:

Can you guess what is under that raspberry spray paint?  Until a couple of days ago I never would have know.  It used to look like this:

And only because Olivia became obsessed with an acron on Saturday did I even know that this is what an acorn looks like without it's cute little cap.

I wonder if I can still find enough acrons to make a wreath.  Or maybe I will have to go for the lima bean version.

Acorn Treats

Another cute idea (and not just because I am in love with acorns) from Little Nummies.

Mini Nilla Wafers, Hershey kisses and peanut butter! I bet these would be YUMMY!

Acorn Snacks

I told you I was a little in love with acorns!

Almost as in love as I am with multitasking my cookie cutters.

This one comes from one of my new blog loves, Little Nummies.

You cut the bread with a heart cookie cutter, spread peanut butter, use chocolate cereal for the top of the acorn. Add raisins for the eyes and mouth and a small piece off of a graham cracker for the stem.

Acorns at Pottery Barn

I am sure there are some places where you can go outside and find acorns. Arizona is not one of those places. Pottery Barn to the rescue.

These acorn vase fillers are on sale right now! I sort of feel about acorns the way I felt about ghosts this Halloween. LOVE THEM!

Decorating the Thanksgiving Table Country Style

Country Living has some beautiful and easy table decorations for Thanksgiving. And although they always have great ideas, I love these because they are all cheap, quick, and beautiful.

I like the tablecloth and the Indian corn, but I love the simple wooden bowls full of nuts that they used as a candle holder.

Take some of the glass around your house, a hurricane, a nice bowl, or apothecary jars and fill them with fall items. Leaves, acorns, nuts and cranberries will make beautiful table displays.

I don't think it gets much easier than this. A Fall leaf on a plate. And definitely an assignment that you can give to the younger crowd!

Strips of paper with handwritten quotes or phrases are fastened at the end with double-sided tape. You can even have your guests read the quotes aloud as part of your Thanksgiving dinner celebration.

Use a nice vase to arrange fall foliage. Another inexpensive and festive way to decorate for Thanksgiving.

Simple Fall Touches from Country Home

Country Home has some little (and very easy) touches for your Fall decor.

A leaf and a little ribbon make for an easy and festive replacement for a napkin ring.

Cardstock with a fall berry or leaf attached and propped up with some acorns.

A sheaf of wheat, about 2 yards of satin ribbon and some fishing line to hang it with.

Just a few things to add to the Fall decor you have probably already collected!
