Leftover Halloween Candy Bar Donuts

We did not get the crowd I had expected last night so we have a TON of extra Halloween candy.  You can't really give it away to your neighbors because they probably have a lot of leftovers too.  So what do you do with it?

Well you could use it on some homemade donuts like Confessions of a Cookbook Queen:

Not really any better for you, but it might be easier to give away.

What do you do with your leftover Halloween Candy?

This doesn't really answer your question, but I wanted to mention that I spent $30 on candy this year--and it barely got us through the ward's Trunk or Treat. When we were done with that, I couldn't bare the thought of spending another $30. So the kids willingly went thru their pails and donated anything they didn't really care for. (One kiddo donated everything chocolate! Gasp! My heart!! Where does this kid come from?) Anyway, it made for a very small amount, one I thought would last about 5 minutes of trick-or-treating. We actually never got through it! Then, after the kids got back from trick-or-treating last night, they did the same thing, and now we have a HUGH bowl full of 'rejects'. I tell them they can't take from the reject bowl, but now I probably will let them. Though Sean was up last night with bad dreams and an upset stomach... Hmm....

We ship ours to Operation Gratitude that sends it to our troops. http://www.opgratitude.com/

Jennifer, thank you for that link! I was looking for it last night because I knew there was a place you could donate candy to the troops overseas, but it was late and I was tired and couldn't find it!

Amie,

Ruby had bad dreams last night too. I think I am going to put the candy away for a couple of days. Too much Halloween and Birthday this week!!

Sugar nightmares are the worst!

We freeze some of the chocolate to use later, cut up into cookies in place of chocolate chips or into brownies. We too have a reject bucket...if they are really just gross things, we throw them out. There are also a few dentists around here that have a "Cash for Candy" program. You take in your candy & they'll actually pay you or give you money off your next visit or existing bill. Most of them will donate it to Operation Gratitude or some other organization.

What extra candy? I let the kids eat it all. Halloween is only once a year and (besides taking out the really really horrible for your teeth stuff) I let them eat it as they wish. I'm not sure how long this years candy will last, a few more days maybe?

I make candy bar pizza--my kids gladly donate to the cause.

Heather,

We had SO much left over! If I had let them eat it all they would have been so sick. SO so sick!

Plus it was my daughters birthday so there was cake and ice cream. It makes my stomach hurt just thinking about it!
