I found another use for jars at your outdoor picnic/barbecue, this time from Good Housekeeping:
To hold your silverware of course! And the ribbon is a cute touch. I saw the image on Gordon's Gossip and I knew I had to check out the rest of the party.
They used a little more ribbon to decorate some white paper lanterns:
Made a cute table runner with some crepe paper:
And used red and white dishtowels as a hanger for some blue hydrangeas:
(Can I just say, on a side note, that I LOVE that Costco sells Hydrangeas here!)
You can check out these and the rest of their great ideas HERE.

I love this look; totally my style=) I want to do something similar for my daughter's b-day party. Hope your day is a great one=)
btw, I recently did a wedding reception with the ribbon down the table...the secret is double sided tape. That little weave pictured would take a lot of time--despite its crisp look of simplicity=) I would guess sticky dots (craft section) and not plastic tablecloths. Too cute!
Jennie,
Thanks for the tip! Sticky dots are my favorite!
I love the hydrangeas!!! I guess it helps that its my favorite flower. I can see so many possibilities with just mixing up the fabric too.
I just saw these in my Good housekeeping and love the mason jars with the ribbon...what a cute idea!
Oh, I just love red, white and blue! Yesssirrr!!
Altho - on a side note, that red and blue crepe paper tablerunner seems very time consuming.
Cute! I love the jars!
Sarah,
Quite the opposite. You cut the crepe paper streamers to the right length, tape the red ones in a straight line at the ends, then weave (over under) the blue ones in. Secure with double Sussex tape and you are down.
15 minutes max! Less if you have help.
