How to Uncarve Furniture

Sanctuary Arts at Home has a great tutorial on her site about un-carving furniture.   Yes, I said UN-carving furniture.  If you have a piece of furniture like this:


that has a design carved into it that you just don't love or doesn't fit with your home, you can make it disappear.

You fill it with wood putty:


Paint it witha few coats of primer and then the paint color of your choice and it now looks like this:
