Hardware Store Cake Stand

One of the things I passed up at Hobby Lobby was a gorgeous (or two...or three) Glass Cake Stand.  They were gorgeous.  Tall (which was the problem...no place to store them) and perfect.  So to make myself fell better I found a tutorial on how to make this one (which would have come in handy on Halloween!):

Holly made it all with stuff she found at Home Depot!  A wood finial (from the deck section), a short wood leg (from the furniture part section), and an MDF disc.  She finished it off with some black lacquer spray paint and it is beautiful!  You can read her directions here.

Very cool. I really want a super awesome cake stand. I might have to try this later this week!

Could it also be a stand for those really fat 3 wick candles?

This is perfect!! How did you KNOW?? I've been looking for a stand for something above our cabinets and have been looking for pieces to make my own and haven't found anything. Awesome!

Cute idea! And wouldn't it be cute painted an off-white or robins egg blue?

Thanks!

That's awesome. I made a cake plate few months back from a plate and a candlestick but this has more to it. Love it.
