Cookie Cake

Mmmmm. Cookies. and ice cream. And cookies. And ice cream. And cookies. Okay, you get the idea:

What a fun birthday cake! And the trail to this cakes has as many layers as the cake itself. I get a lot of questions about how I find all of the stuff that I blog about, so I thought I would use this yummy cookie and ice cream creation to answer that question!

First, I have a Google Reader with enough blogs to give people a heart attack. I think I am about to pass the 700 mark. But where did I find all of those blogs? Well lets talk about this cake. This cake is a Donna Hay creation. But until I found it I had no idea who Donna Hay was. Now I know she is the Australian version of Martha Stewart. You will be seeing more from her in the future since I just added her to the list of sites and blogs that I scout out ideas from. I am sort of in love with Donna Hay now.

But how did I find her? I subscribe to a blog called Party Perfect where I get plenty of cute party ideas from. She posted this cake on her blog after finding it on Imprintables. Which I immediately fell in love with and added to my Reader. I posted the dipped frozen bananas from her blog this morning. She got the ideas for the dipped bananas from The Red Thread. Another blog that got added to my Reader.

Now imagine doing that a dozen times a day. That is where I find all of this great stuff!

The End

Didn't you read my post about my search for a "cookie cake"? This is what I needed! Now I'll know how to make one!

I missed that one! But I just went back and found it and now I have to try that Oreo thing! :X

I just found this yesterday though, so I wouldn't have been any help to you!

I think this would be fun with little cookies too! Instead of cupcakes, your own cookie/ice cream tower.

I have no idea how you keep up. I would go crazy with 700 blogs in my Google Reader.
But now that I have found your blog, I pretty much just read this and it brings me enough ideas that I don't feel the need to go searching everywhere else.
So consider yourself doing everyone else a HUGE favor. Thanks a ton from me.

Oh my goodness! Why didn't I think of that first?!!! What a great idea.

Hey Lorie, I made a modified version of that men's shirt, turned little's girl dress pattern, and it turned out so cute! I shortened it to make a long blouse instead of a dress. If I ever remember to charge my camera batteries, I'll post a picture. Thanks soooo much for all your great ideas.

Annie, if you came to my house that would be reason to celebrate, so I would make you one. But only if you bring NuNu!

Thanks Maleen. And I don't read all 700 every day. I have them broken down into a ton of different categories and I just look through the ones that I feel like looking through that day.

And if I get behind, there is a magic button called Mark All Read! ;D

Renee, you HAVE to charge your batteries because I have to see it!!!

Here's the thing. NO ONE loves cookies or ice cream like I do. This makes me want to make this "cake" for no reason and eat it all. Not a good thing for my diet! Thanks A LOT. P.S. Joys Hope posted a tutorial today on her blog on how to make the covered bucket with fabric. I thought of you instantly.

Ah, but did you see Smitten Kitchen's homemade icebox cake yesterday? Rather than storebought chocolate Nilla wafers and lightly sweetened whipped cream, she made her OWN cookies. And recommends making the cookies small, to make cupcake-sized icebox cakes. Om nom nom :)

Love this post!

This is going to be my birthday cake! Since I make it myself, I get whatever I want! And I know everyone else will love it too.

Love the cake. Hey, just a suggestion. Since you post a lot have you thought about making your comment box a pop up box. This way, we can just close out of it and go to your next post. Right now, we have to click back a couple of times and it always takes longer. A lot of people have it that way but some don't realize they have a choice.
