Seriously? S'Mores

Before you go spending $8.99 on this gadget on Amazon to microwave your S'Mores, I want to let you in on a little trick.

Re you ready...

You can microwave S'Mores with OUT a gadget and keep your $8.99. Stick a marshmallow on a graham cracker and nuke it for 30 seconds. Watch it. It is pretty cool and if you have kids they will REALLY enjoy it! The marshmallow balloons up and when it gets so big you think it is going to pop, STOP the microwave. Take it out. Put the chocolate and second half of the graham cracker and enjoy.

I am pretty sure you could even burn it in the microwave if you are one of those people that like to do that...but I wouldn't recommend it.

Another fun way to cook S'Mores is over a candle. Hubby's cousin got married last year and they had a S'Mores bar. Lots of candles and goodies to make S'Mores. It was pretty clever!

I didn't even know that these gadgets existed!

Purely based on the fact that it looks silly, and plastic I would pass it up. We microwave ours too, and in the summer we throw them on the BBQ wrapped in foil, super yummy.

That is the stupidest gadget I have ever seen. Ever.

I've always wondered if a candle would work but was afraid to try it for fear of burning the house down or eating wax....not in that order.

We cook our marshmallows over our stove burners using metal skewers. Even if you don't have a gas stove, you can still do it over the electric burners. However,I must mention that it's a big pain to clean up if your kids drop one of their marshmallows on your burner :0)

I didn't know these gadgets existed either. I love putting crazy stuff in the microwave, so I'm all for blowing up marshmallows! :)

Heather, there is a show on the food network where they debunk kitchen myths and there was an episode where they put all sorts of crazy stuff in the microwave! It was awesome!

Michelle,

They taste better nuked, but a candle is more fun for the kids.

LOL this is great - I got my OWN smore's gadget as a gift for Christmas...
I haven't used it yet - the idea of using canned sterno right below my marshmallows kind of creeps me out and besides I <3 my microwaved ones for now.

My friend gave me one of those for my birthday and I've loved it. Probably because it's really cute and I'm a fan of it, but also the little arms hold the graham cracker on the marshmallow so it doesn't tip over and get everything messy. Also, it has a place to put water in so when you cook it, it keeps things moist. I use it quite often, so it isn't as horrible as it looks, though I have no problem making s'mores the regular way either.

love the micro for them myself, but just be careful they are crazy hot after 30 seconds...probably no hotter than if done in camp fire but i hate them over a fire so I wouldn't know.

I'm all about doing s'mores in the microwave! I put the chocolate under the marshmallow before nuking, though - that way the chocolate gets all melty and delicious. I even have one of those smore makers with the steno fuel - but I'll take the micro version any day!
