We have a tradition in our family of getting together to make gingerbread houses. Each year we drag home a house loaded with sugar and I spend the rest of the days until Christmas discussing how many pieces of candy they can eat off of the house each day.
BHG has a sugar free alternative to the gingerbread house:

The instructions for building these houses out of mat board (or chipboard) can be found
here. I know my daughter would love this just as much as the gingerbread houses...if not more. My son on the other hand would miss the candy!

I love the alternative you've found!
Me too! Non fattening!
I love your blog header with the cookie cutters. LOVE!
Almost as much as I love these little houses. :-)
great idea!
My girls would kill me if I didn't let them make a real gingerbread house! :)
I haven't made one in years!
Oh my goodness! Those houses are so adorable!
What a GREAT idea!! I am SO glad that you shared!!
I love anything with houses. That picture is awesome. Great tip. Thanks.
those are so cute. I really need to make something like that with my son.
we always make the real houses too. But the kit kind, like from the store. I couldn't live without it. But we don't eat it. :o am I horrible? I never thought to actually tear it apart. Just assumed it would be nasty!
Great idea...I still need to get off the Halloween/Thanksgiving weight!
Cute! This is actually not one of our traditions, but sometimes I try and throw it in just because I always thought it would be fun.
