Yesterday my husband's 'friends' (a joke only he will get) reminded me of a fun little game I used to play when I was a kid. TV Tag?
Do you remember it? Did you play? Did you always use The Cosby Show.
If you don't have the fond memories of TV Tag then explaining the game won't really endear you to it at all, but I will give those of you that almost remember a little refresher.
It starts out like regular tag. There is no base and one person is it. If you are about to get tagged you can save yourself by dropping to the ground and yelling out the name of a TV show. Now from here the rules vary by playground. Usually you can only use the name of a show once. There is typically a rule about how long you can stay down, how down on the ground you have to be, and if there are tag backs or not. The possibilities are endless!
I cannot wait for the weather to cool off so I can take my kids outside to play TV Tag! Sadly they won't be able to play it on the playground. The district has a no tag rule. You have to race. Don't get me started! I am sure it has to do with someone being injured, but it still makes me sad that my kids can't enjoy a game of tag at recess.
Oh how times have changed. What was your favorite game as a kid?

One of my favorite things to do as a kid was chinese jumprope. Remember those things? I bought one for my girls at Cracker Barrel a while back. I LOVE all their classic toys!
