The Easy Way To Find Your Paint Color: My Colortopia

Last month we decided it was time to start tackling some of the painting jobs on our to-do list.  That list actually includes every room of the house except the one room we painted before my son was born.  Paint is such an easy way to make a dramatic difference in any room, and we are definitely ready to make this house our home by personalizing it with colors that we love.

We went to pick out some paint chips at our local home improvement store and came home with a ridiculously large pile.  I taped them on the wall thinking that viewing them in different lights would help me make a choice. They stayed there for almost a month!  I was overwhelmed with the choices.  Then I was introduced to Glidden paint's Color Tools over at My Colortopia.   My Colortopia is all about making painting fun, easy and rewarding. They give you multiple tools to help you choose the right color and great tips to guide you through the painting process.  I fell in love with the My Image Inspiration tool.  You upload any picture that you love and the site does all the work for you, letting you know what Glidden paint colors match your image.

I would much rather browse online and find images that inspire me than stand in the paint section and try to glean inspiration from colored pieces of paper!

We decided to start by painting our master bathroom.  It was time to say goodbye to the dark burgundy that covered all four walls.  The first image I uploaded to My Image Inspiration was a picture of a rug that I have been in love with for over a year.  I have yet to find a place for in my home, but maybe I could make it work in my master bathroom!

Once the image is uploaded,  you use your cursor to drag a box over the colors that you like the best.  This all takes a matter of seconds.  Once that is done, with the click of a button you have your Glidden paint color suggestions.

Not only is it easy to use the online tool,  the results have never included more than 6 colors.  In fact, most images I uploaded only resulted in three or four color choices.  Now that makes for an easy decision process!

I am a big fan of painting walls white so that you have a blank canvas in the room, but I have recently come to accept that colors based off of nature also make great neutral backdrops.  Also, the fewer number of white walls in my house,  the happier my husband seems to be.  I started browsing pictures from nature and fell in love with a picture of an iceberg with multiple shades of blue.  I tossed it into the My Image Inspiration tool and found out just what blue Glidden paint colors matched it.

All those blues reminded me of another blue that I love!  So I uploaded a picture of this pretty blue box:
And ended up with these pretty shades of Glidden paint:

You can probably tell from the images above that we are leaning towards a shade of blue for the master bathroom!  Right now Teal Lake, Deepest Aqua, and True Turquoise are at the top of my list.  I have to say that I love that Glidden paint offers a simplified palette.  It includes colors that people love without overwhelming me with a million choices!  Which color jumps out at you?  I would love to hear your opinion on what hue to paint the master bath!

You can check out more images and color inspiration over on Glidden Paint's Pinterest Page.  And make sure to check back when I reveal what colors I used and show you the big master bath reveal!

I am inspired by a striped fabric accent pillow. The pillow is soft pastels of pink, green, lavender. I think the soft green would be good. 3lipps@cox.net Thanks for the chance. And thanks for all the ideas on your blog. :)

A beach vacation was my last inspiration for redecorating my bathroom. Accessories and shower curtain etc were easy to find. The paint? Shell pink, of course! I used aqua for accent, along with just a little seafoam green. The results were spectacular if I do say so myself. :)

What inspired my last was falling upon petty shell pink dupioni! (Now mind you I had settled on a color scheme for the whole condo of cream, blues and yellow. But this pale shell pink took hold of me! I made beautiful shell pink drapes that puddle on the floor, with pretty brass rods. I made a duvet cover for a down coverlet with pretty raspberry and the shell pink squares. I used a pale yellow cream on the walls. I made tons of pillows of various kinds for the other furniture in the room and the bed, it came out so cute!
