I come from a family that expresses love with food. We express it in other ways too, but food is a big one. There is never a holiday where there isn't enough food to feed every member of our family, even if only one tenth of them will be attending. If they happen to show up and bring 10 friends there will be enough food. But you better come an hour early because when Grandma says Thanksgiving will be at 2pm, she really means 1pm. Not that there won't be food left, but it might be cold or even cleaned up and put away by then.
So what does this have to do with Halloween? When I plan a party I plan way too much food. I know that it is too much food, but there comes I point where I look at the spread and I feel good about it and that doesn't usually happen until there is enough to feed a small nation.
I am trying to plan a party for over 200 people and it isn't possible or probably or even sane to try to accomplish that. And it is killing me. If I had my way there would be candy corn pretzels, molasses cookies, candy corn pudding and carmel apples at each table. I will stop here to mention that the one thing I am actually NOT in charge of for this party is the dessert. Not to mention that it is Halloween and there is going to be enough candy to kill a person.
But I found something on Someday Crafts that might actually make me feel better about this whole situation. These cute pumpkin marshmallows from Adventures of a Betty Crocker Wannabe:
I think I can pop out a couple hundred of these without killing myself (although I would love to make the cute phases, I don't think I can actually pull off 200 of these:
And I can even make some that are striped like candy corns and others that are just dipped in chocolate and then sprinkles. I can get a visual variety without the expense or work that it would take otherwise.
Of course, now I am going to have to find some cute cake plates to display them on!
You can see how Kristin made these cute little pumpkins HERE.
