Spider Cake Plate

Tammy from She Wears Flowers made this spider plate that I love:

It is too cute for words and it makes me extra happy because I get to resurrect an old unused cake plate!

When Toots turned one, I needed a black cake plate for her birthday cake.  I found a TON of cute ones online, but had waited too long to actually order one.  The only one I found at the store was a lot more money than I wanted to spend on a cake plate.  The last place I looked was Target.  After stricking out I decided to buy a cheap black plate and bowl and just glue them together:

It worked perfectly for her birthday cake and when it came time for her to tear into the cake I actually took it apart  so that she just had her cake on a plate:

(I used hot glue, so it wasn't permanant, but there are a ton of permanant options you can use to stick it together).

After the party I ended up finding a black cake plate that I love at Hobby Lobby for super cheap, so this one stayed a plate and bowl and is a random mismatched piece in my cupboard.  But no more!  Tammy bought almost the exact same plate and cup at Target (just the 2010 version):

And with some pipe cleaners and googley eyes turned it into the cutest spider cake plate ever:

So I am going to get my bowl and plate out, use her tutorial and something a little stronger than hot glue, and make myself a spider cake plate!

If spiders aren't your thing, you might want to check out the latest serving plate that she made:

Isn't it cute! Of course today of all days I can't find the black plate! I have the bowl! Looks like I am going to have to take a trip to Target. We are having two Halloween parties, so I may make a couple!
