Pop Tarts on a Stick

I have seen these on about 30 different blogs already:

But I still had to be the 31st anyway.  Not just because these faux pop tarts from The Family Kitchen are really cute, but because they are really just little rectangular pies.

I love pies.  Especially cute little ones:

And heart shaped ones:

pies on sticks:

pies in jars:

Just about any pie.  I think I can blame my love of little pies on these suckers right here:

My grandfather loved these pies.  I remember him eating them all of the time.  He liked my grandmother's pie more of course, but when he couldn't talk her into baking one for him he would settle for these.  His favorite was apple, but he always seemed to have a chocolate or a cherry one to share with me.  I haven't had one in years, but I think it is about time I let my kids in on the joy of a Hostess pocket pie.

Good man, your grandfather. ;) Never trust a man who doesn't like pie. Ever. I can confirm this theory to be true. Apple is my favorite when it comes to those little pocket pies, too.

There is just something about eating goodies off a stick...corny dogs, cotton candy, sausage on a stick...yumm. Can you tell the state (TX) fair is coming up. I’m ready to get my stick food grub on!

We have a Hostess store in our "big" town, and my husband LOVES the pies! Your collection of pies is YUM! Thanks for sharing!

I've only had the lemon pocket pie, but I remember it fondly from when I was a kid and my dad would buy them as a treat. Maybe I need to try one again... ;)

(I tried making those little heart-shaped pies this past Valentine's Day, and mine looked horrible! Embarrassingly bad... so I had to eat the evidence. Mwahaha.)

Courtney, I think you have something there!!

Kendra, I can't wait. This will be our first fair season in TX!!

Anna, was it too much filling? I bet the still tasted good!

It might have been too much filling -- I am a filling girl, not a crust girl. But really, it's such a small pie there's not very much filling anyway so I think the project might have been doomed in my eyes from the very beginning. :)

Oh my goodness, I totally forgot about these. I used to love the chocolate ones. I think I might find them gross if I tried them now, but I'm tempted... I too have a love of little pies and plan on making some pies in jars for the neighbors this year.
