Half Birthday Cake

I found this at Bake at 350:

Usually when I post something from her blog it is a recipe.  But this isn't about the recipe.  Don't get me wrong, the Almond Crusted Butter Cake looks and sounds delicious, but it is the idea behind the cake that I love.

This is only half of the cake.  Why?  Because they are celebrating a HALF birthday!  Such a fun idea.  You could even go a step further and cut the paper plates and napkins in half.  Wouldn't work for the cups though.

I am actually really sad I didn't see this before my half birthday! I would have baked myself half of a cake ;D

Thank you SO much for the shout-out! Love the 1/2 plate and napkin idea! We have done 1/2 party hats before. Very fun!

We celebrated my nephew's half birthday last week. My sister-in-law has done this twice now (he's three and a half) and made half birthday cakes both years. Kelly
