Incredible Shrinking Tie

Craft posted a tutorial from Hideous! Dreadful! Stinky! showing how to turn a regular size tie (that we have a million of in my house due to the fact that my husband purchased a huge lot of ties on Ebay for a small fortune only to find out that he didn't like any of them once they got here because they were to skinny) into a smaller tie (maybe for a boy that is almost 9 and doesn't have a single tie that is the right size for him)

Let me stop right here for a moment and add that I immediately subscribed to Hideous! Dreadful! Stinky! even before reading the tutorial because it is called Hideous! Dreadful! Stinky!

So back to the tutorial.  You can turn this:

into this:

by following the tutorial HERE.

I am not sure The Boy, at 9, will go for the elastic band, but I wonder if I can tweak the tutorial to actually have a little more tie around the neck.  We will have to give it a shot.

Thank you thank you! I just bought a bunch of ties from the thrift store with the intention of doing this, but no idea how. You're the best!

I used this tutorial and it was really easy to follow. I think they turned out cute too! http://sewincrediblycrafty.blogspot.com/2010/04/just-like-daddylittle-boy-ties.html

I love that idea! I wish I had a little guy to make one of those for!

My husband said it would be fun to make matching ties for him and the little grandsons. Too cute idea! Theirs would have to be polyester for sure, though; to be washable.

I wonder if I could sneak this one in for my son's wedding! (When and if the day finally comes!)
