Conversation Hearts

Not really a craft, but an interesting read.  I found a link to  this article from Shine on Edible Crafts.  It is about the evolution of the Conversation Heart candies.  I guess this year there is going to be a Tweet Me heart.  I have actually never heard anyone use the phrase Tweet Me.

Guess how many of this things they sell every year?

NECCO manufactures eight billion Sweethearts per year and approximately 100,000 pounds of candy hearts are sold each day during the six-week period between January 1 and Valentine's Day.

I hope some of those are being glued to wreaths!  You can read the full article HERE.

They apparently also work great for "math" too. :) My 1st grader used these in class this week to count how many of each color they got & then they graph them.

Yes, there is a tweet me heart. So dumb. But, I will report that I used that silly heart and a BUNCH more to make a wreath. No picture yet, but it looks pretty good. Thanks for the inspiration.

I got a "tweet me" one the other day! It struck me as funny, too. I don't use Twitter, but I was pretty sure you don't tweet someone, rather about something...right?

yeah...I'm making that conversation heart wreath, and about 1/2 of the bag of hearts said "tweet me". I don't get it. Also, those hearts smell TERRIBLE! I applaud their cuteness factor, but nothing else. =)
