Christmas Light Christmas Tree

There will be no Christmas tree at our house this year. I know that is sad and pathetic and I hope that my kids will forgive me, but I just don't have it in me to drag it all out only to have to pack it up the day after Christmas and put it on a moving truck.

We are spending most of our time at family members houses that are decked out in all their holiday glory. But still...I am tempted. Tempted to do this:

PK from Room Remix posted about this cute tree that she found on the LHJ site. And I just happen to know where 5 unopened boxes of Christmas lights are located. It won't be as cute as the 12 strands they used in the picture, but I am pretty sure the kids will love it.

Tell your kids how lucky they are to have this one of a kind very special tree! They will love it!

Wouldn't this be cute over a bed? You could do it in white wire lights and leave it up all year.

I don't blame ya for not wanting to put up your tree-- my sister moved from TX to Chicago this time last year, and she didn't have the energy to do it either. Good luck with moving! We've moved a LOT so my heart goes out to you, 'cause it certainly does suck.

You should put this tree up! It would be so simple to pack away! I don't blame you on not wanting to put tree just in time to move.

I love it! Does not replace the rel(real fake) tree but is beter than not having one at all!

Have a great day!

I think it's cute.

If I were in your situation, I'd be tempted to put up a real tree, make some paper chains, cinnamon/applesauce ornaments, salt dough ornaments or other disposables, then toss the whole thing by the curb the day after. LOL

We just recently moved out of country, and have moved a lot before. So, I feel your pain.

bahumbug! the best way to spread christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

You can always make one out of a big piece of paper. Or spraypaint diff size moving boxes green and layer them up like a christmas tree... :)

Growing up we always went out of state for Christmas. So we always had some sort of "other" tree. It is one of our favorite memories of Christmas. We've had blow up Christmas trees, a mini fake one, etc. I think this is a great idea, and you'll be surprised how much your kids will remember it forever.

Thanks for the mention :-) I think you should do it! It's a nice compromise and the kids will probably really get a kick out of it.

For two years we lived in a crowded apartment and didn't have room for a tree. My son, who was 17 the first year, went out and bought a tiny tinsel tree. That was our tree. Now we are back to a full-size tree and i love it. But i didn't mind not having one for two years.
