You could get some orange wrapping paper and wrap the outside. That's what my parents do for Christmas. Looks kind of cool. Can't help you on the couch thing.
I've been trying to convince my husband that we NEED a fog machine for years now, and I finally got one! It's totally irrational, but I can't wait for Halloween. Oh yeah, it's on!
hey, you could just paint your front door for all holidays. I think I am going to paint my front door. You just gave me the idea. But not orange... hmmm.. what about purple??? That would catch the eye!
You don't have to paint your door orange! Just cover it in orange wrapping paper (like the durable Christmas-present wrapping stuff)! We cover pictures in our house with wrapping paper and put bows on them with seasonal paper. It's cute & inexpensive & non-permanent!
My irrational decorating wish would be to decorate my entire house with Reeses peanut butter cups. Strung up, stuck to the windows, hanging from mobiles, all over orange and brown. YUM.
This made me laugh out loud! I can't tell you how many irrational decorating ideas I've had over the years...some of them I actually pulled off! I'm actually loving the orange door myself!
I love the orange door also. If you had a metal door you could cover the panels in a magnet sheet painted orange. This house, I have a wood door...now onto my list...I HAD a list! Woo Hoo! I finally have collected a few things to pull off a pretty classic halloween porch (if you will)! check my decor out at http://missobara.blogspot.com/2009/10/halloween-decor.html Love this blog!
I saw a huge (like 3' in diameter) clock that said "The Witching Hour" and had bats and flying witches on it. It had scrolly black hands and great roman numerals . . . you get the idea. It would take up a huge amount of room to store the other 11 months of the year!
I am obsessing with the same door picture and have been trying for weeks to figure out I could make painting the door orange for Halloween and then repainting it sound rational to my husband.

The sad thing is that I love the orange door, and my husband would want to keep it all year. Go Vols!!!
The orange door is fun, but how about that bench/pillows, etc. next to it. Liking that!

I really like that front door. My wish list is to turn my garage into a haunted house maze for the kids, but we have to much crap in there to do it.

Love the pictures.
I would love to paint a room orange just for Halloween.
I'm pretty sure my hubs wouldn't go for it.
