Caramel Apple Sticks

Oh my Country Living cuteness:

Twigs instead of sticks. So festive and FREE! Now to keep the kids from poking each other with them.

How do you sterilize the sticks? Just curious.

Sterilize Shmerilize, I say! You could snap them off the tree, you could wash them with dish soap. I think as long as they weren't in a heavily-trodden area, and not poisonous, they are fine. I used to freak out over roasting marshmallows that way, but no one's died yet! ;)

Love, love caramel (not care-a-mel) ;) apples. My husband and I just snuck off earlier today and hid in a corner to eat a caramel and nut one from the fair. Does that make us bad parents?! Hmmm....

Love the sticks too. I did that a couple of years ago when my daughter took them for her halloween party at school. The kids thought it was super cool!

You really don't need to sterilize the sticks, because they get stuck into the core, and you don't eat the core. I'm sure if you just soak them in hot (or boiling) water, you can get any germies or loose bark off before poking it into the core.
But it does look really festive, and it is my favorite word: FREE!
