Baby Clothes Quilt

Kara at Craftastical did something that I have been telling myself I am going to do for years. She made this:

The quilt is gorgeous. And although just completing a quilt is on my to do list, this quilt is different. She made the quilt from her daughters baby clothes:

I kept ever piece of clothing Lou La wore as a baby. The boy too. And Lou's clothes got a second use with her little sister...but I don't know that they are going to get used again. But I CANNOT get rid of them. So I keep telling myself I am going to make a quilt out of them. And now, after seeing Kara's, I think I am going to get out a box and start cutting quilt squares out of them.

Wish me luck!

And go check out all of the great pictures of her daughter in the clothes that are on the quilt. It is a great idea for a scrapbook!

**UPDATE**

Kara added a tutorial on how she made this quilt! I may be digging my baby clothes out of storage! See the full tutorial here.

That's adorable. I did a lot of road races and rowing meets in high school and college. I keep talking about turning those shirts into quilts. But I haven't made any progress in that direction yet.

I've been hanging onto all of my favorite old clothes and ripped jeans that I just can't bear to part with to do the same thing - maybe I'll have to bump that project up on my list! This turned out adorably!

It's a great memory keeper..my sister made me a baby blanket from dresses I saved from serving overseas for a year and a half..great memories..

My mom saved all of my baby clothes, and now they are all sitting in my garage, just waiting for me to be motivated enough to turn them into a quilt. I love the picture scrapbook idea. I will have to see if I have pictures to match most of my outfits!

My Mom gave me a bunch of her old maternity clothes. When I named a daughter after her I pieced together a quilt top for the baby out of Mom's old shirts. Very cute---but 4 years later still not complete! Now I'll have to add a lot around the edges to make it big enough for the girl!

That is so sweet!

I was just going through everything my almost-6 month old doesn't fit into anymore the other day...and crying...

Yep.

I may have to enlist one of my craft skilled sisters for help, since everything that I touch turns into a lookalike for a 2nd grade art project.

*Sigh*

:D

First, I would like to say that I just found your blog and I love it! Second, this is such a great idea, I now wish I would have kept my kids baby clothes. Maby it's not too late, my daughter is only 2 so I'm sure it would still work. I've never quilted before, but this post made me want to try!
