Mismatched

So, I already told you about the mismatched chairs that I am in love with.

Well I am in love with these mismatched glasses too:

Well, not actually THOSE mismatched glasses. They tried to "tie them all together" by dying the bases and etching a line in all of them. I think I would like them more in their original mismatched state. But I do love all things mismatched.

I think I am going to start collecting mismatched ice cream dishes:

and white serving dishes:

and regular dishes:

Okay, those are sort of matchey mismatch, but they are CUTE!! They are by Rosanna.

Everything about mismatched is great! You don't have to worry about breaking one, because you don't have to find a match to replace it. You can buy them one at a time so that you don't spend a lot of money all at once. And did I mention it is cute!

It is probably cuter when you only have ONE thing that is mismatched. If everything you own was mismatched then it would just look crazy. But it is going to be so hard to choose.

No matter what I think I might have to get a pair of these flip flops from Little Miss Matched:

Do you own anything mismatched? What is it?

I too like the mismatched. I threw a tea party last year, and went to antique shops and got a bunch of mismatched tea cups and saucers.

i read a quote by mary engelbreit one time that said something like, "it's liberating not to be matchy matchy."

mary's my hero.

My living room furniture is all second hand, or a bargain, and mismatched; old with contemporary, different colors, textures and woods and metals, all tied together by a painting and a throw rug that don't really match themselves! Everything just "goes". I love it!

The trick is convincing my mod asian hubby that these things are COOL!

I like the mismatched style too. It seems "warmer" to me than having everything perfectly set.

Could you count a bunch of "mismatched" wrought iron crosses? I guess that was the point in the wall hanging though.

Frankly, I think I am way to "square" to have mismatched items....that's called breaking the rules!!!!

Oh my gosh - I want those plates! Dishes are my favorite collectible. If I had my way (and the budget) I'd need two kitchens to store all the beautiful dishes I'd collect. And I'd start with the ones in this post. So cute!

Ah! You've hit on my FAVORITE signature. I only buy single dishes, never sets. My dream is to eventually be able to place a 12-piece setting with no two dishes alike (within my specific color range, of course :)

PS - Google mystery solved. Duh. Sorry to harrass you with my questions!

Mis-matched socks...it's our family's new statement! No more matching socks when they come out of the dryer...pull 2 out...that's whatcha wear...the kids love it (unless the boys pull out the pink polka-dot socks...then it gets ugly!)

Ah, you're found my weakness. I look for "whiteware" at every thrift shop I go into. I drool over every kitchen picture I see that includes an open shelf full of whiteware. There are quite a lot of them!

Yes I do. My everyday drinking glasses/cups. But not on purpose. Because they're from Goodwill and other thrift stores! (My family breaks/loses them too quickly to buy new)

...Oh, and The Brewers: My husband predicted that fad (this was a couple decades ago) and within 6 months, every teenager in town was wearing 2 different colored socks! And this was when you pulled your socks up over your peg-legged jeans-that's how we could tell!)

I own mismatched fiesta ware plates, that I have hanging on my kitchen wall, above the sink and also mismatched flowers pots.
Here is a picture of them:

A friend of mine has Polish pottery dinner dishes. They're all different patterns, though they use the same color palette for each dish. It's gorgeous, but also very homey.

chefann! I will now be searching the internet for polish dinnerware!!

I too liked mismatch! I am in the process of making a mismatched dining room and was searching for pics when I found your blog. I have acquired the table and chairs for great prices and am now working on glassware! Would love to see more pics of your stuff! Great post!
