Lovely Hot Cocoa

It has been in the 70s here the past few weeks, so I had given up my cocoa drinking. But last night it got COLD! And tonight is going to be cold again! Hot Cocoa weather is BACK!

SO I bring you this lovely heart hot cocoa from Martha:

Now I am sure that Martha used homemade marshmallows. And homemade Marshmallows are DIVINE. But the one time (well two times... twice on the same day) that I tried to make homemade marshmallows it DID NOT GO WELL! They do not like to come out of the pan! Or off the foil. Or the parchment.

So I am pretty sure you can just flatten a regular old store bought marshmallow with a rolling pin and cut the cute heart out. Or you can try to make homemade marshmallows and then come and tell me how easy it is and that I just stink at it!

I remember watching the Martha episode where she made these. You know the "pre-prison" shows where it didn't feel like a talk show. She DOES make everything look so easy, doesn't she? Oh well, I'm more of a whipped cream gal anyway. :)

Oh, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

In case you want to try again, Ina Garten (the barefoot contessa) has a recipe for coconut covered marshmallows that's super easy, I'm sure you could just omit the coconut. And- she tells you how to get them out of the pan!

Hi cute blog, If I tried this I would end up beating the marshmallows silly out of frustration with that rolling pin. You have a darling blog. Hope you dont' mind me visiting.

We had a s'more bar at our wedding where people could make their own smores...and I had so wanted to make these heart cutouts for the marshmellows. But the day b4 my wedding, that was the last thing I wanted to do so the idea got nixed. But aren't they so cute?

Amie! They really are a hundred times better when you make them yourself! But those suckers are STICKY!! And hard to get out of the pan!

Super cute! My boys have coco every morning so I will have to do this on V day.

Home made are wonderful and this is from someone who isn't really a marshmallow girl LOL.

Just make sure you grease your pan and use a mixture of 1/2 cornstarch and 1/2 powdered sugar to dust the pan and the tops of the Marshmallow! They come out like a dream. I promise!

We've made marshmallows several times and they didn't seem overly sticky. Can't find the recipe right now though - am in the mid of a major reconstruction of my recipe file. Not fun.

What a cute idea! I won't try making my marshmallows though, I'd rather leave that to Martha's team of culinary experts. :)

This is CUTE!

I wouldn't even attempt homemade marshmallows... so kudos to you on that! I, however, would probably just cut the marshmallow into 3 slices(dip your knife in powdered sugar to keep it from sticking) and then cookie cut the heart out! Rolling it sounds like it could get seriously sticky!

Crap! Now I'm having an attack of both the sweet tooth (thanks to the photo) and envy (thanks to your temperatures).

Lace, cutting it is a MUCH better idea than rolling it out!

Teresa, mine weren't sticky when they set, but I greased the dickens out of the pan and they were NOT coming out!

Amanda, the cornstarch and powdered sugar idea is brilliant! I used Marthas recipe when I made them and she just said to grease the pan. I did and they didn't come out. So then I tried to use wax paper and the paper STUCK to them! :P
