I do pretty well on a schedule. I do okay without one too, but like most people, when I have a schedule I do better. The problem is, if I am on a strict schedule and it changes I completely lose my mind. I forget EVERYTHING!
When the boy was in Kindergarten their school schedule got all crazy because of vacations and half days (he went to half day K and when the whole school had half days he went to school for an hour! And not at the time he usually went) and there was a day that I forgot about the time change and didn't pick him up early! Bad mommy moment. He got McDonalds for like a month! (okay, not really!)
Today I am getting everything ready for the day and talking to Lou La about how she gets to go back to school today. (again, in K because of her half day status their schedule gets all crazy and she didn't have school Th-Wed.) I look on the schedule to see what TIME she is supposed to be at school (because that has changed too...she goes an hour earlier than usual and gets out an hour earlier!! *insert annoyed eye roll here*
Then I see it.
Yesterday.
Parent Teacher Conference for Lou La.
I FORGOT!!!
She didn't have school. So I didn't even think about it! I am not even sure I knew yesterday was Wednesday for most of the day! So now I am a humiliated parent who gets to go explain to the teacher that I forgot! Wish me luck! And get me back to my regularly scheduled schedule please!

Don't be too hard on yourself. I think that everyone has done something like that sometime in their life. I am with you, I wish the schools would just pick a time schedule and stick to it!
Oi Vey! This would totally annoy me. I'm sure you're not the only one who forgot. And let's face it, if they kept a regular schedule all would be harmonious. So if the teacher gives you grief just tell her its really her boss' fault. Tee hee. :o)
I am taking her to school in about an hour and hopefully if I get there early enough she might be able to squeeze me in! And then I won't feel like such a doofus!
And Kacey! Your post made me laugh because I thought to myself...would I have miss spelled Oi Vey! Probably! If I can't spell Voila why would I be able to spell Oi Vey!
I think we have all done something liek that at one time or another. Our schools have 3 half days next week they do this every October and every October there is much murmuring through out the land
All of that would confuse me too! I don't know how you parents do it. I hope everything works out. Maybe the teacher won't send you to the corner...
Sounds really confusing! I think we all have brain lapses and forget to do things like that!
Sorry that happened. I have never been a fan of this schedule that came about a few years back. There are usually kids that show up on days they don't have school. Parents have to be called and arrangements made for these children that don't have a clue as to why they are not going to school for the day.
If you weren't able to get in yet call me I will be happy to have your kiddos.
I always pride myself on having a schedule and having my stuff together and last year the same thing happened to me. I completely forgot about our teacher conference and had to grovel and beg humbly to get it rescheduled. Ooops! I never know what day of the week it is. One day I figure I'll try to head to the bus stop on a weekend.
Oh I hate when that happens. I'm sure the teacher is used to it and was probably thrilled to have a little break in between her other conferences. See, there is always a sunny side. :)
If it makes you feel any better, I've heard much worse!! :)
I hat messed up schedules! It is such a pain. I don't even want them home early. (Of course, when teaching early out is a beautiful thing.)
