Halloween Birthday Desserts

These are the ones that didn't make my cut. Mostly because I am running out of time and fun stuff keeps popping up (like a flat tire and a Halloween costume that didn't fit). So much for planning ahead and starting the costumes in September!

I want to make an obnoxiously elaborate attempt for a Halloween birthday cake. Something like this one from The Cake Artist:

And oh how I have ideas! A cute mummy instead of the green monster. The pumpkin on top, but with a layer of ghosts instead of a graveyard. But then I wake up and remember that Halloween is in 2 days!! And I remember that when I start a project that is overwhelming I get overwhelmed. (Amazing how that works! ) I become OBSESSED and my house falls apart and I turn into a grouchy monster. Not really a good idea when I have two school Halloween parties and Toots birthday party all on the same day! So sadly I have to pass. Maybe next year!

Now this spiderweb cheesecake from Martha Stewart would have made the cut if I had a spring form pan. I need to remember to put that on my wish list.

And one of my FAVORITES, is Martha's haunted house cake. This one is truly Martha. You have to make and freeze cookie dough for these haunted house cookies. Then use this template (Halloween Cake 2) to cut them out. Assemble. Bake and frost a cake and about 58 hours later you have this:

And honestly I love love love this cake, but it doesn't scream one year old girl to me. And thank goodness it doesn't because if it did my husband might leave me in my attempt to create this!

That last one is beautiful but I could never attempt it. I am going to try this one though:

I love all those cakes! Good luck...Halloween is crazy enough, It is hard to do a birthday on top of it. I am like you, I would want something so spectacular, but I get so stressed in the process, that it just isn't fun anymore. I really love the cheesecake!
