Fagaga!

I am going to make some of the cake bites (see the post with the cupcake pops) for my SILs baby shower, so I figured I better give them a test run. Tonight I made a batch of chocolate orange cake bites. I need to tweak the recipe a bit. My cake to cream cheese ration was a little off and they were a little to gooey in the middle, but I think they are going to be yummy!

Although I think the texture of the Oreo Truffles is probably a little better overall, you can do a LOT of fun things with the cake version.

Once I have the recipe just right I will post it, but here is the basics. You make a chocolate cake (I used a box for this recipe) and replaced all the water with orange juice. I then made orange cream cheese frosting (8 oz of cream cheese, 2 cups of powdered sugar, 1/2 cup of butter, 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp of orange extract.

Bake cake, cool cake, crumble cake, add 1 1/2 cups of frosting, add more if needed. mix, form into balls, chill, dip (in chocolate bark)

They are pretty dang good! Sweet, but good!
