Expedit Worktable

Expedit Workstation from IKEA Hackers

I love living close to an IKEA.  Mostly because I could walk around in the market all day long, but also because when I see a fun idea over at IKEA Hackers I don't have to plan a trip to the nearest location.  We can just jump in the car and drive 8 miles up the road and get whatever it is that I can't live without.

Probably the product I love the most is the Expedit shelving.  We have five of them in different places in our house.  Some in closets that you can't see and my favorite two, in the girls bedroom holding ALL of their toys.  And they have a LOT of toys!  They are all in the pink fabric bins like the ones pictured above.  I cannot begin to tell you how much I love that setup.

I have been looking for desks to add to the girls room to give them a place to color and draw and IKEA Hacker just gave the the best solution.  With a table top (also from IKEA) and a couple of stair spindles I can turn their existing shelves into a great worktable.

You can get all of the instructions to make your own HERE.

That is genius! I love that shelving as well, but turning it into a desk has to be one of the bet ideas I've seen. Thanks!

Um, this is just awesome. I have a few of these already as well. (My favorite and I love living close to an IKEA too). This is ABSOLUTELY genius and I am so going to look into doing this! Lorie, you always find the BEST stuff!

I have Expedit in a few places, too- three, to be precise... I get lots of criticism from friends for using Ikea furniture, but I'm not one to get emotionally attached to furniture, and I kind of like assembling it... does that make me nuts? Probably. :-) This is a great idea- thanks for sharing!
