Show and Tell Saturday - 06/25/11

Can you believe that this is the LAST Saturday in June.  I feel like my summer is slipping away!

Do you have your plans for the 4th of July in place already?  Because of the drought here in Texas our celebration options are limited.  You can't buy fireworks and even the major public firework shows have been canceled.

The 4th of July doesn't feel like the 4th of July without fireworks, but we will just have to be creative.  If you have any suggestions, let me know!

So what else have you been up to this week?  Grab a button and share away!

And please check out some of the other projects that have been shared.

No particular plans for 4th July being English living in England, but I am planning on using one of the recipe from Jamie Oliver's American cookbook that night.

Hi Lori! This is my first time joining your party. I found you through Crafty Geordi, and I am so glad I did. It might be a bit to early for me and my first cup of coffee has not kicked in but for some reason, my photo of the ceiling medallion mirror did not show up? Anyhoo, I am glad to join and thanks for hosting!

I'm also in Texas and no fireworks here either
:(-my parents live in Guadalupe County and they have even outlawed BBQ. So I guess will catch the local parade and head to the pool.

Thanks for hosting Lorie! We can't do fireworks here either because of a burn ban. My boys don't usually do much, but we at least like to do a few sparklers:)

Thanks for hosting! Bummer about the fireworks ban... does that even include sparklers?? How can you celebrate the 4th without sparklers?

Hope you're having a great summer otherwise!

We're in the same boat with firework prohibition due to dry conditions. Plus, because the economy stinks, our city has cancelled its annual 4th of July Parade for the second year in a row. Bummer! My husband and I will still be hosting our 3rd annual 4th of July Chili Cook-off though.

Thanks for hosting! Wishing you a very happy 4th!

Hi, Lorie -

I sure wish I could send you some of our rain. We've been sump pumping our basement since mid-April daily, and the flooding in Minot, ND is pretty bad. :(

On a brighter note, thanks for hosting another fun link party!

Cheers,
Tracy Screaming Sardine

Tracy,

I wish there was a way for you to send some to us too. It always seems to be that way. Wildfires and drought on one place and flooding in another. I will keep my thoughts with you that you make it through without too much damage.

No fireworks? How sad! We just got back from an afternoon advernture buying a trunk full of fireworks. You could join us for our 4th of July BBQ ;)

This is my first time viewing your blog, such fun ideas and crafts. So I don't know if you'll check this before the 4th. For your firework dilema i have some ideas for you that we've actually done in the past. We weren't allowed to do fireworks so we made a potato gun and loaded it with as many glow sticks as would fit, and then we shot it straight into the sky. It was just as fun as mini fireworks and then the kids got to play with the glow sticks afterward. But if you don't have a potato gun or access to one. We have also purchased tons of glow sticks and emptied them into water guns and had a glow stick war. Make sure to buy the non toxic ones and they wash out of most clothing. Have fun Celebrating! Happy 4th.
