Polka Dot Cake

I really don't think there is anyway I can modify this and get away with making it for my son's birthday. I guess that is why it was in Ladies Home Journal.
i'm seeing single color for the meringues and cake, a square cake and calling it a lego cake! give them eyeballs for a monster cake, or make them the scales for the monster... but yeah, i think it's a stretch
I saw this on pintrest and wanted it for my birthday! You could totally do this for a boys birthday by using more boyish colors and maybe adding some type of robot decor:)

polka dots can be for boys too! just change up the colors to primary(blue,red,green,orange etc)
