Papel Picado Inspired Straw Flags from Cupcakes and Cutlery
A couple of months ago The Hubby and I took the kids to the local children's museum. They had a Mexican history exhibit and one of the displays was all about Papel Picado.
I immediately fell in love. These beauties are all hand cut out of tissue paper. Luckily, since I don't have the talent, I have a Silhouette!
But even if you don't, you can use punches to create a miniature version like this cake bunting:
Or my new favotite, these straw flags.
Head over to Cupcakes and Cutlery to see how to make straw flags of your own.

How adorable is that cupcake bunting. Our local children's museum has an area that is set up to look like Mexico with a cute little restaraunt and flags all over the ceiling.
That sounds fun! There was a tamale making stand (with cloth ingredients) and even I had fun with it!!
I love the bunting and the flags. I am so sad I never thought of making this as a cookie...BUT I will next year!
