Hostess Cupcake Cake Balls

Hostess Cupcake Cake Balls from Sugar Derby

I have been in love with the whole cake truffle idea for a long time.  I was introduced to Oreo truffles by a friend in Arizona a couple of Christmases ago.  Then I did a little looking on line for recipes and found out that you could make them with just about ANY cookie.  (Like Nutter Butters...YUM!)  I then stumbled across the world of cake truffles, which let to Bakerella and her many cake pops.  And last year there was a movement towards brownie pops that just didn't catch on.

And after four years I really didn't think there was a cake ball I hadn't seen.

But Sugar Derby proved me wrong with these super cute Hostess cupcake balls.  They even have the signature Hostess cupcake squiggle.

Now I just need an excuse to try them.  If you already have one, you can get the recipe HERE.

PS - If you have a really steady hand, you can combine this fun cake truffle idea with this other Hostess cupcake idea and transform the signature squiggle to match your theme.

  2. I wish a door to door sales man would bring those to me. I just don't have the energy! If you make them Lorie, I may just come over. I would rather drive to your house than attempt them myself.

  3. Oh my goodness! I attempted Faux Hostess Cupcakes TWICE, and I gave up. This, however, is totally worth trying! :) Thank you!
