Cyanotype Scarf from Yellow Owl Workshop
Printing and silk screening on fabric is something that I have always been interested in but have never taken a crack at. That interest has just grown with this tutorial from The Crafts Dept. The method used in this tutorial is called cyanotype. Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that prints using shadows and light. The end result is a a cyan (blue) print.
In this tutorial, they use black paint to shadow out the sun. The results are beautiful. They started with this scarf with sensitizer that looks like this:
and end up with a beautiful scarf that looks like this:
