Valentine's Day Cupcakes

If you are in need of some cupcake inspiration for Valentine's Day, you don't have to go any further than a Google image search.  Here are a couple of my favorite results.

I love these simple hearts on a chocolate cupcake from Confessions of a Bakeaholic:

You could even buy some cupcakes from your favorite bakery and just dress them up by adding the hearts.  You could use candy hearts, gum paste, marshmallow fondant, or even roll Starburst candies out flat and cut them with your favorite heart shaped cookie cutters.

I love the simple no frosting look from Better Homes and Gardens:

You need to find yourself a good red velvet recipe (anyone have one they want to share?) or you could even use this same idea for brownies.  I love the ribbon accent too.

And delish is where I found these strawberry heart cupcakes:

The only problem with this one is that to make a really good strawberry cupcake you need really good strawberries.  You are going to have to settle for frozen this time of year, but use this this recipe for strawberry cupcakes and strawberry frosting.  You won't be disappointed, especially in the frosting.  Of course, you are going to have to buy some fresh strawberries too for the topper.

Love all of these! I think the first ones are my favorite - simple chocolate with a small touch of Valentine's day.

And as for Red Velvet Cake recipes, you can find one on my blog here:

Thanks for sharing these adorable cupcakes!

Thanks for the recipe Laura. I will have to give it a shot.

And I agree, the first are my favorite too!

Cute, cute cupcakes! I think they would look awesome in my printable freebie cupcake wrappers! I will have to play with the idea of the hearts done that way. Super cute!
