I once read a tip about the best way to declutter your kitchen utensils. Stick them all in a box and when you use them, you can put them away where they go. After a month, get rid of the utensils that are still in the box.
The same idea works for tupperware. But you just put the lids on them and put a little piece of tape on them to seal them shut. When you use them, take the tape off and at the end of the month any that are still sealed shut can be removed from your kitchen.
Both really great ideas that I should have used BEFORE I moved all of this stuff 1000 miles away!

great ideas. I need all the organizational help I can get!
I don't know . . . by that method, I wouldn't have a corkscrew . . . or a vegetable peeler . . . or maybe a whisk!
I am going to try to find one thing the throw away from each room each day for the month of January. I'm having my kids do it too.
Happy New Year!
Wow this is really interesting, i liked reading this post and i was actually looking for this type of post where i can change the direction of all the things by taking the tips from experts.

This is a great idea. Kind of like cleaning out your closets and getting rid of what you haven't been wearing.
Once or twice a month, I bring home a empty copier paper box. As the next month goes by, I add items that I find to it. At the end of the month I take it to the Goodwill store. If I go clothes/shoe shopping, something brought in, something has to go into the box.

You know that's a great idea but I'm a little afraid I'd end up with a ladle and a spatula! Which I guess is a good thing...and a bad thing. But for sure I know I can live without the shrimp deveiner.
For petes sake!

Great idea, but I might extend it to a two month period and have a special clause for season items like grilling utensils or cookie cutters.
I agree with LemonyRenee`, I too would lose important items that only get used several times a year- like a nutcracker, and some other things. Excellent ideas though!
Okay, so you have a place for the "couple of times a year" things, not in the same place as the 'everyday' things. Still less clutter!
Yea! I TOTALLY need more tips like this. We're moving in...5 months. *ulp* And while I'M not doing the packing...I'll do all the UNpacking. And I don't want to unpack stuff I don't need!
