Anyone have any tips for hallowing out oranges? Because I want to make these:
I found it in this months Parents magazine. And guess what is inside. Pudding! Okay, you probably already knew that because of the title of the post. But still, what a fun dessert to go with our Grilled Cheese sandwiches on Halloween!

How do you keep the pudding from dripping out the eyes and mouth?! :)

I saw those in Parents mag and thought, "cute, but too much work!"
Thanks for a wonderful sight! I visit daily and am always inspired. Thanks for searching the blog world for goodies, so I don't have to! I love your site!
That is way cute! I wonder if you just have beat the orange to a pulp as you scoop it out?
the orange flesh i mean
No clue on hollowing them out but maybe you can put the pudding in a clear plastic cup and place that in the pumpkin? Overfilling the top of the cup would give that overflowing look on top.
My friend and I made a lot of these for a youth group activity 2 years ago and let me tell you it was time consuming. The entire thing and ours did not look as nearly good as the picture. To hollow them out, you cut the top and just go for it. We did not find a better way to go about it. We took a spoon and started digging. If you can get between the peel and the insides, you can easily remove chunks. The pudding was a problem if it was not thick enough.
You can actually buy a spoon meant for grapefruits that have a side that has teeth on it. I bet those would work really great. I made muffins in oranges camping and we were sure wishing we had one of those.
You can soften the orange by microwaving it for 10-20 seconds, but I don't know what that will do to the peel.
Also, if you use instant pudding and let it thicken a little it probably wouldn't run out the eyes.
They look like a lot of work; I think I'll stick with pumpkin cookies.
