Jello Flowers

I was looking through my Reader when I found this picture:

At first I thought it was jello! But it is actually soap from Sun Basil Garden. Is it crazy that I want to make jello that looks like this. Actually I want my mother in law to make jello that looks like this! But I don't know if I can talk her into it. I was trying to think of fruit that you could make the flowers out of...but all I could come up with was celery and beets. Not really what I want in my jello. But I think you could make it out of other colors of jello.

I know you all think I am now crazy from rambling on about jello. But I couldn't help it. I actually have never made jello in my home! Is that crazy! Not once. Maybe this is a sign that I need to make some jello!

Maybe I should just eat the soap?

I was so excited to see the title because I thought you were going to show me how to make jello flowers and I'd be the coolest mom ever in my 5 year old's eyes! Now I'm just hungry for jello- darn the 3 hour setting time!

Whoa, what a weird coincidence! I just read a post about Sun Basil Garden in another blog (Soapy Love's blog...do you read that too?), and I come here to find another post about them!

Well, yours is a jello-twist, so it's not quite the same. ;)

I'd love to see your attempt with Jello!

Teresa, I might have to attempt it when the kids are on summer vacation. There are only 42 more days left and they are PACKED full of stuff!

Oh, and I don't read Soapy Love's blog but would love a link!!

Those look really tasty--if they really were made of Jello, that is.

Those are super cute! I also feel betrayed that I don't now have a new fabulous idea for making jello flowers!

But now I'm on a mission to figure out how!!!

you could totally do it with jello. Just add some extra geletin to the colored and it will firm it up enough to stay put. when all said and done, the jello won't be as "jello" but it would still be a fun snack! Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your comments. I think I will try and get a pair or cros soon and try them out! But, I would wear them a lot I am sure.

So cute I for sure wouldn't let my kids wash their hands with it.

NEVER made jello at home? I'm strangely impressed!

I've been a soapmaker for 15 years. I once made a 'chocolate brownie soap' and used cocoa powder to color it and corn starch on top to mimic confectioner's sugar. Of course it had a chocolate brownie fragrance.

I brought a bar of it to my folks and my Dad saw it sitting on the counter and thought it WAS a browie. He took a bite and got WAY more than he bargained for.

Moral of the story: Don't eat the soap!

Those soaps are darling though and it would be a fun jellow thing.

I LOVE your blog! This is my first time visiting and I've just spent nigh into an hour ooing, ahing, laughing, and having a splendid time here.

You have bypassed my bookmark list of semi-regularly checked sites and jumped straight to my favorites!

I deleted the first attempt at a comment for typos. Need to slow down while typing. Wish there was an edit function. :-)

These are awesome! I have no idea how they could be done in jello though, without the help of some kind of a mold.

Actually, wait, I'm still thinking. Perhaps acetate could be used to set each of the interior shapes, then those set shapes would be lifted to a rectangular form, then warm jello poured around them?

How did the soap maker create the shapes?

Love your site!

Ya asked for it, ya got it! Here's Soapylove's blog, specifically the post where she mentions Sun Basil Garden (and she sells instructions and leads classes on how to make soaps that look this fabulous!) -

ROFL. The last thing I was expecting was that you'd suggest that maybe you should eat the soap. Too funny!

How darling! I really don't think it would be very hard to make it out of jello. Just make some jello jigglers out of the colors you want, cut them out in the floral shape, and then you could set it inside another color of jello! that could be fun. Let me know how it goes, I am very curious!
