The hunt for Christmas Stockings

I promise I am not going to skip over Fall and Thanksgiving. I love fall. And Thanksgiving is Hubby's favorite holiday. So there will be lots of fun recipes, table centerpieces and decorating ideas.

But there will also be a little bit of Christmas. Because I am not patient enough to wait until Thanksgiving is over. Are you?

This year I am determined to get family Stockings. We have always had a mish mash of different stocking, and this year I want to have the cute coordinating family set. I haven't decided if I am going to make them or purchase them, so I am looking for ideas for both.

First we have these gorgeous Natural Matelasse Stocking from Sweet William. I love the red gingham, but the white probably wouldn't make it to Christmas around here. To many tiny, sticky hands.

I am IN LOVE with the idea of knit stockings (just so traditional) and these from Garnet Hill are some of my favorite. I don't think I want to fork out $58 a piece though. Maybe I need to learn to knit! Bwahahahahahaha!

You can get the pattern for this one from Martha. I love the trees, but again with the white? Oh, sorry Martha, I meant ecru!

Is it too early for me to ask to see your Christmas stocking? Maybe I will wait until December for that!

I love Christmas stockings! We have red santa boot type stockings, but I would love to also make some more original ones!

I think this is my first comment, but I've been "lurking" for a while. :) We needed new stockings this year, as now we are "Mom" and "Dad". :) I wanted traditional looking stockings that matched our son's Pottery Barn Kids stocking, but didn't want to spend a fortune. I found GORGEOUS cable knit stockings at my favorite store - Target! They are $9.99 (at least here in TX), and have red, green (more of an apple green color than the traditional forest green), and cream. You should definitely check them out. :)

Check Pottery Barn online and see if there is any you like there!

Oh! I will have to check Target out! I always intend to buy them AFTER Christmas for the next year, but I never find what I want.

Across our mantle we put 4. They are made out of a soft fuzzy material. We use white, burgundy, green, and purple. They aren't engraved or anything. I think out of all the ones you pictured, I like the knit ones the best. That is a little costly. Maybe you can find some cheaper somewhere else.

I have perfectly good stockings but want them to have our names on them...so I've been eyeing Pottery Barns's -- they're only $15 each!!! But I know someone who can embroider ours so I'll probably just do that. Stink.

I found MS dish towels at a KMart years ago and my sis made vintage looking stockings out of them. I'll have to post a pic of them once I pull them out.

Love that first one but yeah the white would have to be hung from the ceiling to keep clean and I don't even have children! If it's white/beige/ecru/almond/vanilla (you get the idea), I'm gonna spill something on it somehow.

Oh! Stockings out of dish towels! That sounds like something I need to post on my blog! Can't wait to see them!
