Monte Cristo

I first fell in love with the Monte Cristo at Disneyland.  They serve them at the Blue Bayou and they are G-O-O-D!  I had never had them anyplace other than Disneyland until we moved to Texas.  Cheddar's ha a Monte Cristo on their menu that is Y-U-M!

I have never tried to make one, but this quick and easy version I found over on Julie's Blog is worth a shot:

Plus because this version isn't fried it has to be a little better for you and the kids can help out because there isn't any hot oil involved!  You can get the recipe for the sandwiches over at Joy's Hope.

  1. looks like a fun twist on the monte cristo....you can also make them unfried by just making the sandwich between french toast

  4. When my husband and I were first married - 20 years ago - there was a restaurant by our home that served Monte Cristo sandwiches and they were to die for!

My healthier homemade version that I make is just leftover french toast, ham, provolone cheese - placed in the oven to bake until cheese is melted. Then we dust with powder sugar and serve with a side of raspberry jelly.

  5. Mmmmm. And wouldn't you agree that everything tastes better at Disneyland? It's part of the magic, I guess.

  8. First of all, Monte Cristos were invented at Disneyland. I read all about it in Cooks Illustrated.

    Secondly, I love Cheddars!
