See for yourself:
So she gets total mom props for making her son an owl cake in the first place. But when she said it was okay for me to post it I asked her what cake pans she used so I could post those too. Her response:
I used a stainless steel bowl from the cupboard for the body and then stacked them up on each other. I had to cook them for an hour to make sure the center was done. I used a bread pan for the head and cut it into a kidney bean shape.
Jennifer...I LOVE YOU! You are brilliant!
Here are a couple of pictures of the cake in process!
I am now trying to figure out which one of my family members I can talk into loving owls before their birthday. Do you think I can fit owls into Valentine's Day somehow. Maybe make a big old owl cake for everyone with a card that says guess Whoooo Whoooo loves you? Or loving you is a Hoot! Do you think they will go for it?
That is awesome!!
ReplyDeleteI am totally in awe of this cake. My husband absolutely LOVES owls. Last year I even took him to a raptor conservatory for some upclose time with owls. I really need to make this cake for him but I've never done anything like that. Maybe I'll give it a try.
ReplyDeleteLiz! You should! If you have any questions I would be happy to ask Jennifer for you.
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable! I'm very impressed and her son is also too cute for words.
ReplyDeletewhat totally impresses me is that isn't sitting up. I mean anyone can do a laying down owl, right? but all upright? that's crazy cool!!!

An incredible edible creation! That said, I'm glad my kids don't make me make themed cakes anymore. ;)
