Cre8time Projects

In honor of National Craft Month, I took a challenge from Michaels to participate in the Cre8time movement and spend an hour a day for eight days crafting.

Did you take the challenge?  If you did I would LOVE to see what you created!  Shoot me an email!  Most of my crafting was done with my girls, so there was a lot of paper crafting going on and we have a few unfinished projects that we will continue working on together, but I wanted to show you some of the projects we completed during our Cre8time.

This canvas was something I have been wanting to do for YEARS!  About 8 years ago i was given a copy of some masonry blue prints of the Temple we were married in.  I loved them and intended to have them framed.  But framing something that large can be pricey, so I put it off and put it off and this week, with a canvas that was on sale for 50% off at Michaels and some Mod Podge I tuned one of those blue prints into a faux gallery wrapped canvas.  I have another one to finish and then we will have to find the perfect place to hang both of them.

Mod Podging thinner paper can be tricky, so I will be sharing some of the tricks I used in my two attempts to get this right!

The project I actually had the most fun working on was a zippered duct tape pouch.  To be honest, I never really understood the duct tape fad, but when my oldest daughter found this I love bacon duct tape that Duck Brand makes we knew we had to do something with it.  Oh my goodness playing with duct tape was so much more fun than I thought it would be!  I see more duct tape projects in our future!

My oldest daughter also loves Origami.  She had a friend in her class last year that was from Japan and I think that is where her obsession started!  Michaels has a tun of supplies, including these fun origami animals that have really great instructions to make it easy for the novice origami artist to complete!

A lot of the 'incomplete' projects are for my breakfast nook.  I have ordered some prints and we painted some frames and fun things to hang on the wall.  This will probably be a work in progress for another couple of months, but I will show you the whole thing when we get closer!  Michaels has some great laser cut frames and this one will end up in my dining room.  I am trying to resist the urge to buy all of them.

I hope you found some time to create this month and if you haven't, you still have a little over a week to cre8time!  You won't regret it!

Remember that you can add your projects and check out other cre8tions over at the Cre8time Gallery!

I reeceived a gift card from Michaels to purchase supplies for my cre8time projects.  No other compensation was received for this post.  All opinions shared are my own.
