Inspiration to Fitness - Week 5

I cannot believe that we are 5 weeks into this. If you add up the total miles I have run in the 5 weeks since the Inspiration to Fitness challenge started, it equals the distance of a marathon. What is even crazier is that if you add up the miles that I have left to run in the next few weeks it equals the distance of a second marathon! I almost positive that I will have run farther in these 8 weeks than I ran in the previous 32 years of my life combined. You probably think I am kidding.

The end feels like it is getting close. Anytime and end draws near, like the end of school or the end of a pregnancy, you are forced to start planning for the future.  I have already charted out my final route. The route that will take me through a 5 minute warm up, a 3.5 mile run, and a 5 minute cool down.

I have been tweaking my play list. Every day adding a song or taking a song away until I have just the right combination of music to keep me moving and help me zone out and forget that I am running.

And I have started thinking about what comes after these eight weeks.  My whole goal was to be able to run with my son. He can still run circles around me, but we can still head to the track on Saturday mornings and see how long it takes him to lap me.  I also never intended to sign up for an actual 5K, but there is one race that looks fun enough that I just might let him talk me into it.

But like all future plans, I have to take it one day at a time. And today I am heading out to run 2.75 miles.  I will run it without stopping and I will try to run a little faster than I did the last time.  And I will try to avoid eating all of the Girl Scout cookies in the house while I do it.

Wish me luck.

I have your 12 and 13 on my ipod for running, too. Might I also recommend the Glee version of "Don't Stop Believing" and the Corr's "Breathless"? I'll check out the rest of yours to see what I might need to add to mine.
